My mother is in her 90s, and her doctor recently suggested she take statins. She refused. Her cholesterol level (‘bad’, presumably) was 3. I’ve also read Kendrick’s books, but we had not discussed – mainly because it never occurred to me that they would put a healthy woman of that age on such a drug. There you go…

I always want to rescue Continuous. Used to feel the same about Sholokhov. It was poetic justice when Hawk Wing bombed out at stud. Maybe Continuous will have the last laugh too.
Camelot is still alive.
May 5, 2025 at 20:51 in reply to: British trained jumpers much more competitive than expected #1729596Barry Geraghty talked about this on RTE, apracing. I was only half listening, but I believe he also said that the British handicapper is being more lenient on British horses to start with, and so it is making it a more level playing field.
Have a read of this, Moehat. Of course he was typically ‘surprised’ that anyone had a problem with his actions: https://www.racingpost.com/news/festivals/grand-national-festival/mystified-willie-mullins-disappointed-by-inquiry-into-galway-plate-non-runner-arEDe0E8goP8/
I did smile when Patrick’s Park was beaten. His owners don’t mind racing for less money: https://www.independent.ie/sport/willie-mullins-irked-by-vroum-vroum-mag-fine/34653876.html
Some very strange posts about Chris Gordon. Renowned as a very shrewd purchaser of horses, and a great supporter of Irish point to pointers, I sincerely hope that he continues to serve his customers in the same vein. People of my ilk rely on people of his ilk. Unfortunately his owners will never have the deep pockets of Mullins’, but these sorts of mind numbing ego-driven title races only happen now and again. Thank goodness.
Live link added to my last post, as the others were duds. Agree with the above. Bloodstock is a whole can of worms that nobody wants to open.
It looks as though some plans are afoot. I haven’t read the reports properly yet, and there is still mention of the census. Tracing of movement needs to be continuous and mandatory, not an annual return that is never verified.

There’s no excuse for not having full traceability, not for TBs anyway. We’ve been going through the charade of the census in Ireland for three (? maybe four) years now. It was supposed to set the scene for an AIM type system, but nobody wants to record this information, for obvious reasons. I also read that people are getting around the UK ban on sending TBs for slaughter by sending them via Ireland to the continent. No idea if that is true.
Very interesting, seaing stars. Thank you.
Lucky boy – the picture with the baby in her pram is priceless.
Well said Marlingford. She didn’t lick this off the road, as they say. To see the dressage community throwing her under the bus is sickening. They all need to take a long hard look at themselves.
People on both sides of the fence should stop focusing on the emotional aspect. What Dujardin was doing in terms of training a horse was shockingly ignorant – hanging onto its head, while simultaneously applying both whip and spurs, sends such mixed messages that no horse can understand the ask. The situation will go from bad to worse. That a woman can get to her age competing at the level that she does, and apply these sorts of methods beggars belief. The other people present are equally guilty. More money than sense, and the horses always suffer.
Ruby Walsh gave his take on it on RTE at the weekend, saying that, in his view, ‘banned’ should mean ‘disqualified person’. This was just after he had to read out an official statement by RTE about Luke Comer, just before the Comer Group International Curragh Cup, in which there were two runners trained by Luke Comer jnr (Luke W).
