More sad news … colic is such a horrid thing … What an amazing horse he was holding the record for the number of jumps he cleared during his many Aintree races over the National fences.
Oh no! I waited for news on TV – nothing came so I assumed he was OK – although it was an x rated fall at speed – so so sad for it to end like it has today …
I hate those huge fields coming pounding down to the 2nd last and last – so many in contention and others who were up there fading back … I think it must affect the horses’ concentration …??? Poor HMS Seahorse suffered a very similar awful fall, just like Saint – in with every chance of a place … then crashing … Saint had never fallen before … in fact he’d completed all 12 prior races … sadly his 13th on Friday 13th claimed his young life …Well said … I so agree over halal and Kosher …
PS RSPCA are generally useless at intervening early enough with obvious lack of care issues to so many horses/ponies/donkeys …
I am heartbroken – I’ve struggled all day worrying about his participation and trying to understand WHY he was in the race … I wanted him pulled up way before the end and let him come into the paddock for recognition of ALL his achievements (8 times at the festival – is that a record?) … YES he should have been there at Cheltenham 2026 but in a presentation parade round the paddock … now the worst has happened … I know hindsight is a wonderful thing and no doubt all concerned with this decision are distraught … He was such a talented and handsome horse and he deserved to enjoy apples/carrots/polos whatever was his favourite for many years to come …
RIP ENVOI ALLENNasty fall and I didn’t hear anything on the TV but I feared it was going to be the worst news …
Such a shame – running a good race and had completed in all his previous 20 races … poor lad … much sympathy to his connections.
Such a shame. What wonderful owners.
So sad I hoped for better news but I did fear the worse.
Very sad end for such a brave warrior …
62/350/11958/5377/0113062/2P9PU34/76P567P7/03113112P-1453FA very distressing end for all 4 I fear … Leopardstown was so hard to watch today (I missed yesterday’s races …). I didn’t hear an update on Racing TV and couldn’t find info on the race reports from today …
I was there and I didn’t realise at first he was possibly injured. I could only see on the screen as the field went by that he was standing very quietly just off the course with no screen around him so I thought he was OK … a little while later I saw the horse ambulance and the screen go up so I feared the worst … so sad – he’d only jumped 3 fences and the injury happened on the flat …
That’s awful … just cantering to the start … I don’t think I’ve ever heard of this happening before …
Sad loss of an older warrior … 50+ races with a good completion record then this … much sympathy to those who loved and cared for him …
Poor girl … awful injury on the flat at Cheltenham last race. Winner last time out …
Just found out it was her birthday too …Sad day as I’m almost certain one was lost in the last race … but Racing TV finished at Cheltenham without saying anything … also a winner last time out …
Sadly confirmed … Casa No MentoHope this works:

Valgrand was given painkillers and got back to the stables. He looked like he’d been concussed. X rays done on neck and he’d damaged 2 of these C4/C5/C6 (Dan wasn’t sure which) and there was nothing more that could be done. He reassured us that at no time was Valgrand in pain – he was in “fairyland” with the drugs that had been administered.
