Yes it was a really horrible fall. What a beautiful looking, talented horse too.
April 13, 2025 at 22:12 #1727216So sad that he couldn’t be saved.
RIP ValgrandApril 13, 2025 at 22:40 #1727224Its a tough sport to enjoy at times the jumps .
Id be interested how many horses Mullins and Skelton throw at it in next two weeks if ground remains so fast . Skelton said he was only going to run whats suited , so be keen to see how many suited by firmer conditions .April 14, 2025 at 09:15 #1727242Dan Skelton has taken the time and trouble to update via a video on Facebook about the loss of Valgrand. Valgrand was given painkillers and got back to the stables. He looked like he’d been concussed. X rays done on neck and he’d damaged 2 of these C4/C5/C6 (Dan wasn’t sure which) and there was nothing more that could be done. He reassured us that at no time was Valgrand in pain – he was in “fairyland” with the drugs that had been administered.
Sad …April 14, 2025 at 10:17 #1727243Lochinver, do you have a link please? I can’t find it and would like to see it. Thank you
April 14, 2025 at 10:24 #1727244Hope this works:

It’s gutting for them, he looked so special when winning at Cheltenham the other year and hopefully was on the way back after a couple of disappointing runs on soft ground.
Also just watched the Harry Skelton clip with Valgrand in his stable talking about the County Hurdle option for him, and you could see in that clip that Valgrand was just the sweetest, kindest horse, and so well loved.April 14, 2025 at 12:53 #1727253Thank you so much for sharing that Lochinver, very much appreciated. 👍🏻
April 15, 2025 at 11:32 #1727292Credit to Dan for front footing it , he ran a fit horse , well trained, its sadly a racing incident .
But ive seen he trotted out the horses die in a field line , people see through that , of course horses die in fields but as a percentage its way way more dangerous running at speed at obstacles with other horses packed around , its a tired old line . . - AuthorPosts
