March 13, 2026 at 18:14 #1759685I am heartbroken – I’ve struggled all day worrying about his participation and trying to understand WHY he was in the race … I wanted him pulled up way before the end and let him come into the paddock for recognition of ALL his achievements (8 times at the festival – is that a record?) … YES he should have been there at Cheltenham 2026 but in a presentation parade round the paddock … now the worst has happened … I know hindsight is a wonderful thing and no doubt all concerned with this decision are distraught … He was such a talented and handsome horse and he deserved to enjoy apples/carrots/polos whatever was his favourite for many years to come …
RIP ENVOI ALLENMarch 13, 2026 at 18:24 #1759691That was straight from the heart lochinver..Well said..agree with every word. I wish he’d just come to parade. It was a strong race and of course he gave it all he had.

Henry De Bromhead’s travelling head lass certainly was when she was interviewed after the last race on RTV. She was struggling to speak through her tears.
It is horrible to lose the horse. He had a superb career and lit up many days. But without wanting to sound like I am criticising anyone when emotions are understandably running high, I think we should try to avoid making implications that the horse should not have run or that it was somehow unfair on him. For all we know, people in the De Bromhead stable or from Cheveley Park may read this forum.
Let’s celebrate the horse’s life and achievements today.
March 13, 2026 at 19:00 #1759703I think they would understand if they read this Forum Cork. We are all here for them in their sorrow and some of us find it harder to make sense of it than others it depends on how you deal with emotion and stress.
We’re all going to miss him, nobody’s to blame his time had come and he decided to take his final bow on the course he loved. ❤️ RIP Champ

RIP Envoi Allen
March 13, 2026 at 22:31 #1759754One of the great horses of the modern era. A truly horrific postscript to an astonishing career. Utterly undeserved. RIP Envoi Allen. I won’t forget you as long as I live.
March 13, 2026 at 22:43 #1759757Desperately sad news, Envoi Allen was a star.
I’m always uneasy that when connections signpost a race is a horse’s last, or they say something like “we just hope he comes safe”, that fate may add a cruel twist like this.
RIP Envoi Allen
March 13, 2026 at 23:18 #1759767I agree. The first time it happened was when Willsford ran a race and we were told he was going to be retired afterwards. I can still picture him pulling up. Then Rust Never Sleeps trainer was interviewed prior to the National and said all he wanted was for him to be back in his stable that evening munching an apple. There was another horse that broke a fetlock in his much publicised last race; Eric’s Charm I think. My heart sinks when I know it’s a last race before retirement.
March 14, 2026 at 02:19 #1759793Agree. Envoi Allen couldn’t have won today. He wasn’t even pulled up when stopping quickly and getting tailed off. If you know a horse is ready for retirement, retire it.
March 14, 2026 at 08:47 #1759818Must admit that when the race started, we were talking about him and I actually said ‘I hope nothing happens to him, it would be sod’s law.’ I was so glad to hear he got round, and then the announcement that he was down….just….dammit.
