Yet another shed load of non runners today that GT didn’t tell us about
GT
There are 10 non runners at Carlisle and 13 at Nottingham (so far)I don’t see any great going changes at either track so that can’t be the reasonOf course it is why shouldn’t it be?
Spencer now rides very few of Bell’s horses Hayley does a lot of travelling for him with little return
as Ginger says Top Sees but heritage handicaps start at 0 in any case high rating doesn’t mean the animal has run to it recently and then there are the unexposed group ability horses
Oh come on Heritage races are probably the very worst for disguising ability seldom won by horses showing recent form..Run of the mill handicaps are just fine and run generally very well to form. Personally I don’t back in any else and any move to do away with them would see me quitting betting altogether
Hi
That’s strange I thought just the opposite since Jamie got his new job (and he was always top stable jockey) she rides most of their runners it’s outside rides she’s been short of often going long distances for one or two rides for the stable when Spencer’s been at the meeting riding for othersFrankie
You seem to be misunderstanding what I’m saying AW has it’s place in winter there’s no question of shutting down in the summer as Lingfield and Southwell both grass tracks I would just like to see them being used in the appropriate summer season instead of pressing on endlessly with the artificial surface where the form is pretty well meaningless on turf.At the end of the day racing still gets it’s income mostly from betting and turnover must be well down in this doldrums period as you’d need to to be a ‘swivel eyed loon’ to be betting on what being served up for the last 2+monthsHi Ian
Interesting explanation from Lingfield which leads me to wonder how Epsom and Brighton manage night meetings on grass with similarly configured courses.
Also what happens at Lingfield in the event of some drizzle during daytime racing on grass very similar to dew but I haven’t noticed them cancelling any racing on the basis slippery bends?
I think this is a case of ‘pull the other one’they simply only want to race on the polytrack no doubt there’s some financial benefit to Arena in doing so it’s all that motivates themHere we go 2 AW meetings no grass today, tomorrow joy of joys three AW meetings no grass and Thursday 2 AW.no grass Why bother with the flat at all this earlier. Total rubbish ‘racing for change’ more like ‘racing for the dustbin’!!
They supply a good alternative in winter against bad weather but the flat is season is for grass allowing the AW to continue is just a distraction and provides another whole load of mixed up form,. My really pet hate is Lingfield with great grass track insisting on mixing in the dreaded polytrack races. It was really great last year to have a 6 race meeting there entirely on grass because they were relaying the polytrack. No doubt this will revert this year.DO YOU HEAR ME ARENA!!!
They’re all totally pointless anyway classic trials run on polytrack are a waste of space and should have been taken away from Kempton. There should be no AW racing once the grass flat season has started
I just don’t understand this lack even when put on they seem to be for amateur riders, apprentices, fillies or 3yos only with a tiny number of runners. Seems a very strange way to run a race track although they do appear to put on a class 4 event most days once again with few runners. No shortage of class 6 which I would be more suited to amateurs (if we must have them at all)
He seems OK although I personally not that bothered about any of them I’m really not interested in their comments. The big no no for me is Richie Persad What a useless light weight interviewer he is been hovering about for some time now and not improved one jot.I think the BBC didn’t know what to do with him so quite a coup to unload him on Channel 4
I seem to remember he was with Fallon when they were scammed by a newspaper or TV pretend interested party when Ahern suggested that Fallon could be paid via a third party friend
or something similar. It has always made me rather suspicious of him ever sinceA large majority of racegoers particularly on Sundays are on a day out they do not want small fields of non handicaps they want EW size fields with bigger prices and closely contested races. I also only back in handicaps and wouldn’t dream of going to a track with a majority of non handicaps
