Totally agree and don’t know why but I’ve just never liked Ahern, there was something about him I never trusted

How does that work ?
According to the Racing Forum Brains Trust(c)(R) this sort of thing never actually happens. So they must be trumped up charges made by ‘bitter people who cannot make their gambling pay’.

It seems that he is accused of passing inside information to interested parties. I presume that Eddie Ahern had information about Kirby’s mount and passed it on? Presumably jockeys chat in the changing rooms and there doesn’t have to be anything particualrly sinister in that, though there can be if conversations go outside the confines.
Charges detailed below (from BHA website)
1. Did EDDIE AHERN on, and/or before, the date of the races identified in the Table of Races in which he was the jockey act in breach of Rule (A)41.2 in that he conspired with Neil Clement and/or other persons to commit a corrupt or fraudulent practice by communicating directly or indirectly to one or more Betting Exchange account holders information relating to the prospects in the race of that horse which was or included information (i) obtained in his capacity as a licensed person and (ii) which was not publicly available or authorised for such disclosure by the Rules of Racing (‘Inside Information’), knowing that (i) and (ii) were the case and knowing that such information would or might be used to gain an unfair advantage in the betting market?
and/or
2. Did EDDIE AHERN on, and/or before, the date of the races identified in the Table of Races in which he was the jockey act in breach of Rule (A)36.1 in that he communicated directly or indirectly to one or more account holders on betting exchanges, for material reward, gift, favour or benefit in kind, information relating to the prospects of his rides, which was or included Inside Information, knowing such information was Inside Information?
3. In relation to JUDGETHEMOMENT when it ran on 21st January 2011 at Lingfield racecourse, the issue for Inquiry is, did EDDIE AHERN act in breach of Rule (B)59.2 by intentionally failing to ensure that the horse was run on its merits?

As usual you bend what you percieve as other’s opinions to suit your own story. There’s as much opportunity for corruption in racing as there is in other walk of life. Of course it goes on, but I’m sure not quite on the scale your mischief making posts infer.

I seem to remember he was with Fallon when they were scammed by a newspaper or TV pretend interested party when Ahern suggested that Fallon could be paid via a third party friend
or something similar. It has always made me rather suspicious of him ever sinceIf memory serves it was Ahern who deliberately whipped a horse to excess in order to get a lengthy ban under ‘the totting up’ procedure during our close seaon
He’s long struck me as a dimwit, and it would seem a cruel, calculating dimwit too: good hands or not

It’s in the interests of anyone who backs to clean up the game, cheats must fear for their livelihoods. If Kirby and Ahern are guilty they must receive life bans. Racing stinks to high heaven these days with horses not giving their running in what probably amounts to hundreds of races.

Does racing really need the likes of Ahern, regardless of the outcome of this new allegation?
Ton of bricks on the transgressors: good jockey, bad jockey, good hands, bad brains or whatever; I don’t care and unless your domesday-laden posts are really born of a bitter-and-twisted glee rather than of a love for the once-great, still-pretty-good sport, neither should you
