He actually jumped quite well both in the Red Mills and at Cheltenham. He’s just not quick enough for two miles. Connections made a mistake not going for the Coral Cup where he’s have gone close.

Have my doubts whether he’ll ever return to the track. He’s always been difficult to train and he’s not a young horse – will be 9 rising 10 when/if he returns. Still though, I doubt connections will be too disappointed with his career. He has won €200,000 in prizemoney (would have another €60,000 but for being disqualified from the Punchestown bumper).

Leopardstown at Christmas?? Fairyhouse was never on the agenda this year anyway.

Just one race less than last season for him. No major problem. Contenders to his throne are thin on the ground as the fields for the Morgiana and Hattons Grace prove.

3 miles around Leopardstown at Christmas is about a tough a slog as there is in these isles.

Oscar Whiskey @ EVS (Paddy Power)

Class horse in the race. His two career defeats have been in the Supreme Novices and the Champion Hurdle where he ran with great credit in both. Trip here will suit. Surprised he’s not odds on.

Curious, I decided to check how his time compared to the big race which had horses like Sizing Europe in it and found it was a street length faster.

The trip was a half mile less????

    1:25 Fairyhouse

    Staying Article @ 6/4 (Boylesports)

    €200 win

Thought this horse might develop into a Supreme Novices contender this time last year but alas he didn’t see the racecourse again after his maiden win. Now runs for Thomas Barr so he’s clearly still held in high esteem and this race should not take much winning.
