I briefly spoke to Ahmed the other night and asked him and all I got was a coy ‘We’ll see’

Read into that what you will but it wasn’t a ‘It’s Frankies decision’. Think Ahmed has the ride set up.

    Frankie for Chabal probably?

How on earth is Cutless Bay goin for the Cambridgeshire, this is the most ridiculous thing I have heard in recent years sorry fella.

Don’t think Simon Crisford would be too happy with this forum branding Saeed as a man that lays his own horses after he so kindly done a Q&A session for us.

    Wilson,

I can’t believe you’re actually getting offended by Zarkava joking around.

I thought you might have read the opening post of a thread you’re posting on?

    Just a thought like….

    Humorous thread though Z 8)

    Good luck TAPK!

Theyve got to beat Portugal or Brazil (whoever gets 2nd in Group G) before they get past the 2nd Round!

Had a little look at this market aswell as the win market and I agree with another poster here that Argentina, as classy as their squad looks, will not win the World Cup. I have them down as going out in the 2nd Round to France.

    As for the Golden Boot….

I feel France will make the best of their group stage and Anelka and Henry are massive prices at 80/1 and 66/1. Holland also have the chance to score a lot of goals early on so Dirk Kuyt and Van Persie are sizeable at 150/1 and 25/1.

Lastly, with Slovakia and New Zealand in the group followed up by a likely 2nd round tie against Japan or Cameroon I think Alberto Gilardino is massive at 50/1 for Italy.

Good luck lads! Going to be a great World Cup. I fancy Holland and Germany for the final

This ‘O Brien horses needing the run’ thing is extremely overrated.

Jan Vermeer isnt the only Classic generation horse to win first time out this season. Midas Touch did it and so did Cape Blanco.

Lets keep our feet on the ground here for two reasons…
    1) That was over 1m2f against a poor field
    2) A couple of weeks ago Aidan O Brien stated JV would go for the French Derby with a run. That may not be the case now but I still favour him sending Jan Vermeer for the French Derby.

The one question you need to ask is will Aidan O Brien send Jan Vermeer to be the biggest threat to a horse he has been talking up for the last 10 months as one of the best horses he’s ever had.

He’s French Derby bound lads. If he turns up at Epsom he has a massive chance but thats unlikely to happen

I have already made the point about the possibility of him not turning up at Epsom twice although I confined myself to a couple of sentences because unlike yourself I don’t the know the answer.

If I was trying to the win the Epsom Derby I would want the best horse to represent me. Irrespective of what may been said in the past right now that horse could well be Jan Vermeer. I appreciate that might be a nasty shock to everyone with a St Nicholas Abbey ante-post bet but that as they say is racing. Personally, I would only send Jan Vermeer to Chantilly if there was a concern about the trip.

Quite what the amount of sentances in a post has to do with the price of eggs I don’t know?

You’re right, on form alone Jan Vermeer does look the better horse this season

    but

O’Brien and Murtagh are both ridiculously open in just how good they think St Nicholas Abbey is. Cape Blanco won very well against some decent sorts in the Derby (probably better types than JV beat today) but they were still adamant SNA was better than CB straight after the Dante.

It’ll be interesting what AOB announces as his squad next Monday but the Champion 2yo becoming the Derby winner and building on that in his 3yo career would mean a lot more to Coolmore at stud than a Champion 2yo going down to a ‘probably’ better Coolmore sort.

I don’t know what the answer is, I have my own opinion about it though and I can’t see Coolmore slitting their own throats on Derby day with a potential breeding windfall in sight.

I’d love to win this race for the 3rd year running but going against Paco Boy may not seem so smart from me this year.

I’m playing PIPEDREAMER and LORD SHANAKILL. I think The Cheka will be running on very strong though.

Pipedreamer has always struck me as a horse who would do much damaged when stepped back down to the mile. Similarly, Lord Shanakill has a lot more to offer than he’s already shown and has always impressed me a lot more over a straight track.

Theyre both massive prices considering what they have to beat

How many times is it that a jockey has weighed in light in the last 12 months in Britain?
Seems to happen more here than anywhere and this sort of thing is leaving an open goal in the sport for skulduggery by the unscrupulous.

Mention should also be made of total lack of information given out at the track to both racegoers there and viewers at home, it was appalling.
Not the slightest mention as how light he weighed in or why.

Was it not that the weights fell out of the saddlecloth at the gate?

RUK actually said this on air. Were you listening?

It’s been raining all night/morning since about 11pm in London and my friend over in Cambridgeshire says it’s the same there. Torrential downpour.

Perfect ground for Sariska, ironic that she’s now picked up a little injury and wont be running today

    Hi Pompete,

    Good to hear from you.

    Close, but no cigar!

I saw the price today (I should have mentioned that in my OP). So I guess it could only relate to the 2nd leg.

    Odd, innit?

    Zips

    Zips,

Think Pompete meant that the odds could be for Barca to be in front in the tie at HT and FT. I.e. they needed to be 2-0 in front in todays match to win on aggregate.

Hughes said on ATR – that Paco Boy has never worked or looked better…

Let’s hope that you don’t over run him and burn him out by mid season again!
Plan ahead, space out and save something for the autumn chaps :!:

With this news and knowing the ability of ‘Paco’ is it a good sign for ‘Canford’ if he is the best in 40 years that they’ve had catch pigeons on their land?!

I see that plans might include the Breeders’ Cup – anyone think that he might get there?! :|

He’ll get to the Breeders Cup. Owners have been keen on it for a long time now.

In all honesty, I think that is the main aim in the back of their minds. Lockinge, Queen Anne, Sussex Stakes/Marois, Foret, BC Mile would be how I see him going.

Elusive Pimpernels time is the worst of the batch

Is that not pointing out which is the worst time of the lot? Doesn’t mean i’m comparing them for my betting needs.

I threw Elusive Pimpernel out before the Craven and I still stand by my decision.

Ah yes, the comparing of 3 different races run over the space of 12 months, very good.

    I wasn’t comparing them.

He asked for the times and I pointed out which was the slowest.

    Calm down Mrs

If RVW goes for the Queen Anne that’ll be one hell of a Royal Ascot opener.

Rip Van Winkle, Paco Boy AND Goldikova? Thats a little bit mouthwatering!
