I am a jumps fan so pardon me if being naive, but I don’t understand why a horse which has run the Craven faster than any horse since modern timing methods began, and fast enough to win any Guineas in that time bar one, is 4th in the betting.
Yes the ground was good to firm but I expect has been like that in a few Guineas over the years, plus apparently if it turns out a bit softer on Saturday it’ll suit him. Re experience- he has won twice over the course, doesn’t look like a headcase, has the same jockey for Saturday and (yes I am ignorant) how much more experience do you need to run in a straight line with no obstacles in the way?
Yes I am pocket talking, as I have him at 40-1 for the Guineas and 200-1 for the Guineas/Derby double…but I really like him, and he has got me interested in a Flat race for the first time in ages. As Jac says, it’ll take a bloody good horse to beat him.
Here’s hoping they all turn up fit, well and feeling good on Saturday and everyone gets a clean break and a good run. I’m really looking forward to it.
Come on EMINENT!

A decent end to your season…you’ve earned your break!

Particularly since it was achieved with half the number of runners Elliot had.
Um, hands up who predicted the winner…not me for sure!
Great info thanks, that seems like good value too.
Yes a good post and a reminder to keep my ears pricked in autumn for trainer comments to store in the memory bank, especially if they are tucked away in a deluge of “what’s hot for the Christmas festivals” info.

3.10 Call it Magic (nap)
5.00 Sandymount Duke
5.35 Bonbon au Miel
Res Sandown 4.45 Dark FlameYeah I bet him for Tuesday too, 40s I think, and was pretty disappointed when he wasn’t declared! Think the price now partly reflects trainer form but would have been sickened if I wasn’t on.
I agree LD73, I like the way she finished too and have backed her E/W at 33-1. Hope she doesn’t remember having her back teeth extracted when the stalls open.
Well done everyone who got a return today especially for your confidence in Woodland Opera.
My choices for the last day are
Call it Magic 14-1 E/W
Sandymount Duke 14-1 E/W
Heron Heights 25-1 E/W
Karalee 11-4 winAt Sandown I’ll probably just stick with my E/W AP bets on Theatre Guide and Just a Par.
Enjoy the last day everyone and safe journey home tonight VtC.
Arse, he goes in the Whitbread. Oh well.
I’ve picked Le Prezien 7-1 win and Bright Tomorrow 33-1 E/W. Not many other bets apart from Bleu Berry 16-1 E/W, VVM win Ch Hurdle and a bit E/W on Home Farm in hunter chase.
Have a good day all.I’ve backed Present Man 16-1 E/W for the Oaksey Chase tomorrow in the hope he gets declared for this not either of his other entries.
Do you think Davy Russell has selected his longest stick and is busy attaching a carrot to the end of it?
If Labaik starts it’ll blow them away I reckon.I’ve also gone for VVM. Suspect she was still recovering from virus at Chelt. She must be going well at home now or they would have run her in the mares not this, they must have had an inkling that Annie wasn’t going to make it to the latter.
Haven’t watched it yet but seems that Footpad didn’t stay. Will watch out for him over 2 1/2 next year.
