Despite any number of views passed recently regarding Mr Mullins disregarding punters interests, not knowing which of his horses is best etc., he has today retained his Irish trainers title.
When you consider the loss of the Gigginstown horses at the start of the season many were doom mongerers over his prospects.
To retain his title, even when 400,000 euros behind Mr Elliot at the start of the Punchestown festival, is some feat in my eyes.April 29, 2017 at 18:24 #1298909Particularly since it was achieved with half the number of runners Elliot had.
April 29, 2017 at 18:37 #1298914Elliot had 1230+ runners willie had only 570. No vautour, Annie power, faugheen, killutagh Vic, only one run in Ireland from arctic fire and limini. Losing avant tout early in the season too. And losing 60 gigginstown horses, yet still is champion trainer. Outstanding achievement.
