Bennys King for me – about the right time for Venetia William’s charges to start performing.

My guess is they’ll ignore any detailed correspondence and only worry about it if the horse wins.

Shame, I liked the bet too.

I wouldn’t contact them at all on related contingency. Firstly, I don’t believe such a defence by a bookie of a bet like this would stand legal scrutiny. More importantly, had the bet been placed in a shop, bookies would have recourse to their ‘palpable error’ rule (to cover staff mistakes in not spotting it).

I’d argue strongly that with automated online betting, their software should be set to catch RC bets before they’re accepted. If their software is inadequate, why should you pay the price?

Too late! Have contacted them – no response as yet.

I agree with you in part as I’ve said – but then I’m also aware that just as in law ignorance isn’t an excuse and I should have known about related contingency – more fool me for putting a bet on I didn’t fully understand.

Will post again when I hear back from WH.

Can’t they do what they’ve done at Newbury and sell some land on the periphery?

VtC – I haven’t yet made a selection for the Stayers Hurdle. Am I allowed to jump on Faugheen at 14s (ew) or would that be frowned upon? If so, I can’t look past Unowhatimeanharry (win) 5/2.

    Cheers

I think it’s very much Case 2 right now in terms of if everything goes right. If one doesn’t make it though it’s all musical horses isn’t it. Be a brave man I think to bet that both AP and Faugheen will make it to the festival.

Well I don’t bet on anything other than the horses but I’m definitely a mug clearly…we all start somewhere I guess.

Bit daft in this day and age they don’t have computer systems that recognise these bets and thus prevent you putting them on?

Milbear – thanks for the tip. I kind of understand the implication, though have no idea of why. Will go off to google related contingency…

Sad news. Best make the effort to get to one before 2021 I guess. :negative:

    Congrats

I don’t think people are lying about backing it, just that why even mention you have backed it at big prices at all?

Just to feed your own egos or…..

fair enough if you mention that you mention it before it ran in the tolworth, so we can all get involved.

    I didn’t mention it until you did…

Relax, when it’s announced for the Supreme I’ll be sure to come back and remind you I wasted my dough ;-)

    Hopefully that works.

Wasn’t sure what he was aimed at so also had 2 doubles on the tolworth/AB and tolworth/Neptune.

Be annoyed if he ends up in the supreme !

I can vouch for Stilvi’s bet Judge

Rocky, totally agree about that Maiden Hurdle. Monalee going to be a good one, but in behind, The Storyteller, and Glenloe. Two horses who look like just the types I like to follow. Maybe not for this, but in time, Coral Cup or Pertemps horses.

ok but can we stop with the shameless aftertiming please? I see this all the time on this forum, where people boast about the huge prices they’ve taken.

funny how quiet all these people were BEFORE sandown.

Odd why it bothers you so much. I have FO at 16s for the Neptune. Happy to put a screenshot up if someone tells me how. I also have a completely wasted bet on Robin Roe if it makes you feel better?

My thinking was that last years line up had some big names missing, plus AP winning last time out is the exception that proves the rule – that mares don’t win the CH.

    Like I said, ignore me!

I have 2. The first was the 1991 GN. I was 10 and watched the race in the front room with the old man – picked out my horse and over the last couldn’t work out why the old man thought picking winners was tough. My horse was Garrison Savannah and you know what happened next…

Fast forward 25 years and through I guess having no friends and family in to racing, I’d never been racing bar the odd night out at Windsor with work. However, mate of a mate invited me to the Hennessy in December and I think I’m now hooked. Despite knowing nothing even I could see the class of Thistlecrack winning without having to get out of 2nd gear, and the excitement at Native River winning my first on course bet will be hard to follow.

Cannot tell you how excited I am – new to racing despite my age (35) and just bought tickets to my first festival. Only ever been to 3 meetings before but the Hennessy a few weeks back has me hooked. I know zero about the sport and definitely fit the definition of a mug punter so ignore anything I bet on.

    NAP – Douvan 8/11

    EW – MTOY 50/1

    Lay – Annie Power

Hi Everyone – looking forward to getting involved :yahoo:
