I find the campaigning of Zarkandar this season baffling.

Looks set to run yet again over 2 miles in the Kingwell on Saturday, ok the prize money is ok but its no penalty kick as Melodic Rendezvous is no mug. Surely if your running a horse in the World Hurdle you’d try it over 3 miles prior to that run?

He must be running Big Bucks and co into the ground on the gallops at Dicheat!?!

I still think Milan will win.

Underestimate a team with Super Mario in at your own peril!

I’d be a bit cautious backing her to win either 3 Group 1s.

A lot will depend on were she gets sent for her first race, I could see her going a similar route as last year going for the Fillies Group 1 at Longchamp before going for the Arc.

Connections will be keen for her to remain unbeaten for when she’s sent to Frankel sorry Stud! So will this mean they’ll duck and dive a bit at least until the Arc? We’ve seen it many times before were first time out a horse has needed the run and been beaten by a race ready rival…

I’ll be waiting to see how she performs on her reappearance and how the classic generation in this country and others perform before getting involved, so no doubt she’ll be 1/5 by the time I get involved

how do others think cape tribulation would handle aintree?

    vf

He’s one that caught my eye, been running in Graded races for a while now, if he were to run near the form of his Argento win last year he’d have a live chance. He’s been given every chance with the weights to getting 10’12 putting that into a bit of perspective he was top weight in this years Henessey!

I think his jumping will be fine, 50/1 is a BIG price…

This might sound like a naive question, but should Tidal Bay come up trumps on Sunday, how much would that effect his mark for Aintree? Is Smith likely to make him the only horse in the handicap bar Long Run? My biggest worry is him be penalized even more should he go close on Sunday…

On the flip side if Tidal Bay runs badly will Smith give him a lesser mark than he was going to originally going to?

    I’ve been waiting for

    Prompter

to reappear since before the turn of the year, I backed him the previous two times he ran and thought he should have won both times, given a poor ride on both occasions with McCoy and Elsworth leaving their challenge until to late. I get the feeling he will pop up and win a big handicap so Ive had a bit each way on at 40s.

I think their is plenty more to come, they’ve been keen to get a run into him so you have to presume he wasn’t 100% today, don’t think the ground was ideal either as their was talk of him getting pulled out today if their was more rain. Despite the above he still did all he could do today and won. He looked like he was going to win on the bridle until coming towards the last and given that it was a match race in effect he was never going to win by that far.

A smooth performance from Rock On Ruby today, ok he only beat Mr Mole but for me he’s the bet of the festival, how many other horses in the field have beaten the fly over hurdles? The closer we get the more confident I’m feeling he will win.

I’ve had a bit on the following

Japan to win Group C @ 11/2 – Not the toughest group especially with Falcao now doubtful for the Columbia’s, the Greeks will struggle, Ivory Coast have Yaya Toure but the rest of the team is thin on quality imo. Hence i’ve backed the Japs who will be fit, organised and won’t be fazed by the heat.

England to win the World Cup at 66/1 – Got a whole £10 on with Ladbrokes, unlikely but 66s is to big and you cant beat a patrotic bet!

Suarez Top Scorer – 18/1 is a huge price, a lot will depend on if Uruguay get through to the knockouts. Will 5 or 6 goals win it? Think Torres won the Euros with 4.

I’ve managed to get my list down to 4.

    Tidal Bay

    – Not much I can say about this one that hasn’t already been said, hopefully it will be one of those lovely stories the National so often throws up.

    TeaforThree

    – Ran a great race last year to finish 3rd, neither of the two that beat him are returning. His run in the Welsh was ok and hopefully, he’ll come on for that.

VtC gave my next two a fleeting mention earlier on in the thread:

    Carlingford Lough

    – Think a lot of people noticed him when he won at Galway but the run that really caught my eye was his run in the Kerry National. He was really picking up at the end and finished a solid second which isn’t bad considering he was top weight. My one worry would be his next engagement is over 2 and a half miles running against Champagne Fever, he then looks Cheltenham bound, would he still run here after that? Trends would no doubt be against him to but with 40s available at the moment hes worth a bet on the basis if he does turn up I think its likely AP will ride him. Would be more like 10s on the day of the race then!

    White Star Line

    – The horse who beat Carlingford Lough in the Kerry National, he’s a bit hit and miss. He first caught my eye when he stayed on in the JLT at the festival two years ago. 7 years since a Irish trained winner, were due one.

Depends how much the bets are limited. Ladbrokes had England at 66/1 the other day to win the world cup. Double the price they originally were, sounds good until you see the small print saying maximum bet £5!

Didn’t bet on the race, agree that it was a bad ride when a race is so close coming to the last you have to look for a big jump, for me Tinkler didn’t do that. The jump at the last definitley cost the horse the race.

soll ran another good race today staying on as he always does must be worth an each way shot?

    vf

I thought Soll really needed that run today, I’d tend to disagree really vf I’d have liked to see him a bit closer. Did he really stay on all that well? I’ve only seen the race once and the way Theatrical Star stayed on probably made Soll look like he was treading water!
