What about countries that are much hotter than the Uk? Their horses survive, a supremely fit horse should be able to run. I saw something on Facebook saying that a particular riding stables was closed for the duration of the heatwave, I thought thatv that was for the pupils and staff the actual animals shouldn’t be affected.
Nothing caught up by ITV racing, was a very bad incident.
One thing I have noticed about Southwell is that it well used by some of the top trainer and the numbers are good. That really surprises me, the portable fences are a disgrace and the speed of the staff moving the wheelie jumps after the last race is appalling, all about the speed. Quite a few courses have the portable fences now, are fatalities as frequent at the others, say Worcester? Or is it just Southwell?
I think that it is the grades of the runners that are the problem. Plumpton, Fakenham have similar results. Also summer jumping is not good really.
This horse had not run for well over a year and was fourteen years old. I saw the black screens and knew it wasn’t good, every meeting there is a fatality.
She has to be professional, I am sure she was saddened by the death but she he can’t just break into tears every a horse dies on TV.
I am wondering just how bad the ITV coverage will be. The camera work was terrible, most of the runners were high up and the images were so small. In the 1970s the pictures were better than all the helicopter footage and all the blurry colours, it is like a student film. All the jokey presenters, so much time spent on what chocolate bars they eat when I was just desperate to see the runners prior for the race. I just shout at the TV!
The TV station was that he was okay just winded.
Also what has happened to Sandown Park? Fences that just come apart, the water jump covered with a grey board, previous quality races decimated.
The anchor is rubbish at ITV. Want to show children and too worried about falls.Hasn’t there been a thread on water jumps previously (a few years ago) with images of all of them, I can remember one with flat plastic.
I thought that the water jump at Doncaster was filled in having no actual water. Either the water jump should be filled with water and a decent test, such as as those at Newbury, Aintree and Hexham or be completely omitted. Sandown has stopped having water too. If there is no water then horses will try to miss them out as what happened yesterday, the horse would have jumped high and wide over such as Newbury’s jump.
Add also Kadir Cup, who was initially registered as Diving Suit, he raced until he was eleven years old. He was trained by Harry Peacock and eventually was with Fulke Walwyn. He was a long standing HIS stallion foaling hunters and show horses as well as runners in NH rules.
Which race was this in?
I was to see that Fulke Walwyn is been replaced too. We do need some sense of history.
There are people called Fulke. It is an old English name derived from Germany.
Thady is a name too and is a diminutive of Thaddeus. Thady is increasing in popularity, I suspect Thady Gosden is actually called Thaddeus.I think that they should have finished it completely. It is no longer much of a test and they will continue to tinker with it till there is nothing left. As Cork All Stars pointed out there have been several fatalities in the last week but it is only those in the know you are aware it. A high profile death at Aintree will fuel fire and the race will completely go.
Very sad. It is practically a horse a day at the moment.
I just hate American racing even if there are UK runners. I will not have it on.
