I’m not remotely interested in it, but I must be in an overwhelming minority considering the absolute blanket coverage on ITV, Sky, RTV etc. To me it’s just a bunch of foreign runners that I’ve never heard of generally trained and ridden by people I don’t know, often under the influence of some exotic propellants.

There are a handful of European contenders who’ll presumably regarded as, listen, over the top when they get beaten.

Sorry, just does nothing for me. Did enjoy Hexham & Warwick today, mind. :good:

Yes, I care a great deal about it.

    14 Grade 1 races at a two-day meeting – can’t wait.

I know what you mean. I have had a go in the competition elsewhere on this site just for a bit of interest but it was pure guesswork and I doubt I will be staying up to watch it tonight.

I might watch some of it tomorrow but the medication issue does ruin it a bit for me.

100% with you betlarge but then I try and ignore most things that happen on that side of the Atlantic, equine or otherwise.

I can’t believe I’d ever have got interested in racing if all it was was flat (in both senses of the word) , left handed oval monotony.

It used to be great before they went all Cheltenham and decided to water the quality down with a ton of stupid extra races. Its pretty gash now and I will probably watch the Classic only.

I’m interested, and it’s good to see the extensive coverage it’s being given. However, I’m much more interested in some of the big meetings closer to home that don’t get much attention on mainstream TV, especially the big Irish Jumps meetings.

    It’s something to watch.

It’s a lot more interesting when the UK and Ireland send a strong team but that hasn’t been the case for a few years now.

To be honest I started losing interest when AOB started using Bute to try and get a few winners over there.

From Del Mar; it’s like having Champions Day from Chester. Not that I’ve had much interest for many years. Amount of drugs in American racing puts me off – not just bute. Trainers found to have abused even USA rules given little (if any) real punishment. Seems as though the USA authorities don’t care.

Will record it and watch it in 20 minutes tomorrow when I wake up at about 5 am.

I’m sure many in the States would say the same about the likes of Royal Ascot.

I don’t see the issue with the racing channels showing, er, racing. Not like it even clashes with domestic fixtures. ITV4 would only be showing repeats of Police Camera Action or some dodgy 80s action film for the 20th time so may as well show some live racing instead.

…And a serial drugs offending trainer wins the first race for the third year running.

I’m watching Scott & Bailey ITV 3 starring the fab Suranne Jones and the rest of the cast isn’t too shabby either.

Missed this the first time around, but GG from the other place gave me the heads up a while back that it was on 10

I’ve really tried to enjoy it, but it just doesn’t grab me.

As has already been mentioned, the use of substances does not sit easy either.

Yesterday afternoon, The Guardian’s Greg Wood put up an article analysing all the Breeders’ Cup races which was open for comments. By 11.30pm yesterday it had attracted zero. This morning it has a couple slagging off the mmeting and a few more talking of domestic racing.

This is why I started this thread – it seems to me that the importance of this meeting is vastly greater in the minds of the UK racing media than their compatriot punters. Mind if you’re Chapman, Luck, Persad et al off on a transcontinental jolly for the weekend, you’re going to think it’s a very important meeting indeed!
