Labour in the ’70’s ….I remember them …. the country went bankrupt!
Thornberry says she asked for Mandelson to appear before the Foreign Affairs committee to answer questions and was denied the opportunity by the Foreign Office … now we know why.
Starmer could have saved himself a lot of trouble and the UK from embarrassment by getting the vetting right.I now hear he’s blaming Mandelson for not being candid …. isn’t the vetting process, done properly, supposed to uncover such deceit?
good luck to allHad a small each way investment on TROPICAL RETREAT e/w over at the Curragh
good luck to allMust admit to being slightly disappointed with my last runner I really thought coming into the closing stages we had all bases covered only to leave the final effort a bit late. However we move on and putting forward for your consideration a recent import from Ireland who since arriving has shown good form. His final run in Eire was August ’24 following which he was gelded in June ’25 and connections moved the gelding to his present handler. Not surprisingly AIR FORCE ONE *** needed his first outing in almost a year before winning ‘The Jump Jockeys’ Nunthorpe’ a couple of weeks later. He carried forward the progress to run second in a Heritage Handicap, then a valuable handicap both at York over today’s trip.Last time the selection took his form to it’s highest level yet registering career high numbers and as a 4yo hasn’t probably reached his peak yet.
good luck to allI imagine some here are now starting to think of the fast approaching national hunt season, but for me that means sparse pickings among the a/w racing which however means Meydan is on the horizon as compensation.Today sees the opening day of the St Leger meeting and HOPEWELL ROCK ** looks worth an interest following a very encouraging return last month when fitness became an issue and brought his challenge to a halt.As a juvenile this colt was successful on both starts beating some rivals which have taken high order especially the Newbury maiden win where the horses who finished 2nd-5th are currently rated in order of place 95 91 103 & 92 where as the second from the Bath novice is now rated 92.Registering good numbers on his seasonal return this 3yo has more progress to come and can be expected to make up for lost time.
good luck to allOuch …. another one bites the dust as Mandelson sacked over his association with Epstein!
How many times was he forced to resign from Blair’s government before they packed him off to Brussels?
And the cherry on top for Starmer & Labour, Merck have announced the scrapping of £1 billion R & D centre citing government policies.
good luck to allApologies for being so late.
Will just put forward PUSH THE LIMIT *** running at Ascot for your consideration>
good luck to allWhy have people been so hard on Rayner & Labour?
Setting yourself up as ‘holier than thou’ as Rayner and Labour do means a certain pleasure is taken by others.
Schadenfreude ….. is becoming the popular term for expressing such things.
good luck to allHate to break the mood Marlingford but think ‘holier than thou’ Angela Rayner deserves a mention.
Having finally coughed up the truth, through gritted teeth, she now blames others.Considering she used ‘top notch’ firms to advise her I find it surprising that they would have missed what she claims for the ‘error’.
Having spent recent times screaming at others to resign and publish details of such controversies perhaps she will now follow her own calls and publish this ‘misleading’ advice for the public to judge.
good luck to allPurwell,my sympathies to yourself and loved ones.
Wishing you the very best.
good luck to allHDLG
It’s been revealed from government documents that the actual Chogas cost is more than Labour announced.
Take a look at government borrowing costs, where inflation and unemployment are heading and with the unions on the warpath it’s going to get very uncomfortable for Starmer and of course there’s Jezza’s new party.
nwalton
have to agree with you Blair, Campbell & Mandelson are a trio of the most duplicitous, manipulative and untrustworthy people I think this country has ever produced.
good luck to all
HDLG you really have lost the plot.
The Chagos deal is about needlessly giving away a UK overseas territory and the billions Labour agreed to hand over for the privilege to Mauritius.Somehow I don’t believe taxpayers would think it’s a good use of their money.
(given a vote on it how do you think it would go?)
How did this ‘black hole’ come about ….. Labour spending is the simple answer to that …. ask Rachel from accounts she’s the ‘expert’ on them both real and imaginary.
(I can’t imagine how you missed it all in the media?)
Let me once again give you the highlights of why my attitude to Labour is so.
1970’s rampant militant unions and Labour bankrupting the country
Blair/Brown years .. one of the first acts of Brown was to destroy private sector workers pensions
then lying to take the country to war, although Robin Cook went up immeasurably in my esteem when he stood up in Parliament and called Blair and his cronies liars in that oh so nice language used in the House of Commons
then we had Blair covering up what really happened when a British citizen died on UK soil.
I’m of course referring to Dr David Kelly, making it an inquiry instead of an inquest meant people could lie through their teeth knowing there would be no repercussions as the difference between them is a witness gives evidence on oath during a inquest.
I think I shall continue posting here all kinds of snippets as I seem to hit a nerve.
good luck to allI understand UK Government debt has been assigned a new moniker, the ‘moron premium’ c/o Rachel from accounts.
Not really surprising when Starmer,Lammy have sloshed it so lavishly on things like the Chagos deal which government documents now reveal it costing ten times as much as they said and given a bung worth billions soon after they came to power unions are now back demanding more.
Presently the guessing game is over how they will fill the black hole created by themselves or will Rachel from accounts/complaints now claim the imaginary black hole from last year was bigger than she thought?
One thing’s for sure it won’t be the public sector or unions coughing up the cash but private sector workers and companies.
Before the left here start weeping and wailing it’s all everybody’s fault why do you think the electorate rejected Labour over and over and over again ….. the clue’s maybe seen by looking at this government.
good luck to allWith the competitive edge to midsummer racing it’s been impossible to find selections which meet all of my criteria with so many matching to part but not all but in JAKAJARO *** we have one who ticks all the right boxes. This gelding being put forward for your consideration may not look very appealing on paper but is long overdue a third success. The selection was highly tried while in Ireland but never made the grade as a conditions performer nor after being purchased by present connections when his first two starts were Group 2 & 3 events in Meydan.Given a break he returned over the minimum trip for Cowell and has run creditably without setting the world alight. However last time out over course and distance he registered numbers which give him every chance today in much calmer waters.
good luck to allBit disappointed with Buick’s riding of yesterdays selection as not wanting to go too soon he then allowed the horse to be boxed in with nowhere to go,showed poor judgement for one of our better jockeys. However we move on with one of Fifth Column’s stablemates and putting forward MUDBIR *** for your consideration.Displayed resolution when making his handicap debut last month and the 2lb rise he’s been handed doesn’t look insurmountable and stop him here.
good luck to allNot surprised connections pulled yesterday’s selection following the deluge the course took early in the afternoon. However have an interesting Godolphin contender for the ‘Golden Mile’ in FIFTH COLUMN * who although failing to win as a juvenile showed promise. After being gelded in December, that has been repaid in shedloads this season with this gelding being successful three times. The only defeat coming at Royal Ascot in the Britannia when not helped by his draw. The selection bounced back at headquarters last month and doesn’t look out of this although faith has to be taken that he will act on the prevailing underfoot conditions.
good luck to allSprinting has always been a favourite of mine since adopting my current style of betting as speed cannot be faked and ‘the clock never lies’.Successful on his juvenile debut THE MAN e/w was immediately raised to class one contests where sadly he cut little ice.Following the unkindest of cuts and wind surgery he reappeared at York’s Dante meeting this year to travel smoothly and put clear daylight between himself and the rest. The numbers registered were head & shoulders above anything previously achieved marking him down in my book as an interesting prospect. This geldings pedigree suggests he will always do best in sprints and hoping for at least a place today.
good luck to all@ HDLG ….. ”goes on long irrational rants’
I merely quoted extracts from the columns of seasoned political commentators.
Complain to them or the publications they write for as I hold no sway over their musings.
I state once again to having loyalty to no party!
(puts on tin hat ready for another left pile on)
