Its a real pity that Pride of Dulcote didn’t get a season novice chasing. Nicholls was fairly unlucky with his novice chasers last year and he was very sweet of Pride of Dulcote before the season began. It will be interesting to see what path he goes down this season with him, I’d expect to see him over in Ireland a bit and then maybe contest the Gold Cup or the Ryanair?

Big bucks is right, AoA is a definite place lay. The watering of the track will help Rite of Passage and I think he might run into a place.

Would agree with everything posted here. He’s just been on an upward curve for last couple of years. I’m delighted he got the gig with Beckett this year, a really important year for him. His recent ride on Vulcanite was top drawer.

It’s an absolute joke. Paddy Power are refusing to take bets even at SP on the first horse Sammy Pat. Call themselves bookies! I hope O’Hare does it again I was there when he did it at Naas. Managed to get a nice few quid on his last runner that day at 8/1! Bet365 & Setantabet.com are the only ones I can see in Ireland giving prices on these races now.

What are the odds SNA never sees a race course again and gets carted off to stud instead? ‘Walk on Water’ is an unbelievable quote to get out of O’Brien in reference to a horse still in training.

Ask him about a runner in a maiden in Clonmel and like a parrot he’ll just say ‘we are happy with him and the horse is well in himself’

"Muscle injury" that causes a convenient premature retirement I’d say and nice stallion fees.

Don’t think you are correct there Cormack. I think the Duchess stand gets you a view from of the parade ring from the back balcony of the stand. Not down at ring level?

As cormac says you never know, you could be looking at a wonder horse and only time will tell. I’m just disappointed to have only a ‘view’ of parade ring for that price. I like to get up close and watch the horses but couldn’t justify £90 for it. I like the flat but this sort of elitism just turns me off it.

    England’s price reflects

    – A seamless qualifying campaign
    – A great manager with a great record
    – A somewhat easier group
    – A first choice 11 than is as good as anyone
    – A striker who is probably the best in Europe at minute

Thanks to the draw, England should make semi finals where they should meet Brazil. I’d expect them to beat Brazil the way Dunga has them set up.

Thanks David useful info, I know Stan James are only refunding your bet as a free bet. Setanta’s looks fine but limited to £100 refund. You can back 5 teams @ £20 each and still get £100 back. I was thinking

    Argentina 7/1
    Spain 4/1
    England 6/1
    Italy 14/1
    Germany 14/1

So long as one of these or Brazil wins you are covered. Nice profit in it if Italy or Germany take it?

I’ve no time for those gaming terminals in shops. They should be banned completely. Its worrying about dependent bookies are on them because they are sure to be better regulated at some point in the future.

I always liked the Coral shop on Chiswick High Road. Friendly crowd passing on their pearls of wisdom to anyone who’ll listen. There was a guy in there who worked for the council who had a great line of the form of Martin Johnson horses.

I’m not a fan of Matt Chapman, he brings nothing to the table and ATR would do well to replace him. I just prefer to mute the TV when watching ATR.

I think Nick Luck is excellent. He is the complete pro and racing is lucky to have him. In a previous era I’ve no doubt he’d be a presenter on Grand Stand.

Nathan, you put that bet on Paraguay in the spank bank because from watching them last night, I wouldn’t be sure they’ll get out of their group.

    I see that:

skybet refund losing bets if England win
    setantabet if brazil win
    stanjames if spain win

Surely there is a way to place to a couple of risk free bets by combining these offers. I can only see 4 possible winners the other team being the Argies.

The business is moving online. Shops are in a state of permanent decline and the growth is only online. Although I like to go to my local bookies shop every Saturday (it seems to be lucky for me!) I do all my other betting online. There will always be a place for shops on the high street but at the minute there are just too many. 5 on Chiswick High Road if I’m not mistaken Chiswickian?

I’m confused about the whole incident? What business is it of the stewards? What difference would it make if they saw him trotting? If they only wanted to see the horse trot, why won’t O’Brien agree to that? All very confusing?

Is it plausible that the horse was injured and will be ruled out of the Derby and they didn’t that info coming out?

Crikey what was wrong with adding this to the other thread on the same topic which appears just below on the list.

And as I said there it’s just a long Danehill/Sadler’s Wells hangover. Get used to it. The stable lacks speed these days no matter how much they spin to the contrary.

I think it’s too early to say that. I’d imagine O’Brien’s horses will be good for the business end of the season.

I have to say I was never really into the flat until last year and STS. I watched him at the Guineas meeting and ended up following the flat through out the summer then. Personally I think it is as good as the NH once you follow it. The only thing is following it takes more effort than NH. It can be a bit of information overload in following all the new 2 year olds, breeding etc.

I think Nicholls like everyone in Ireland following racing, has realised that Townend is probably heir to Ruby Walsh’s crown of ‘best jumps jockey’ in the business.

He is a brilliant judge of the pace. He seems to have a great feel of how fast his mount is going or how much strength they’ve left. Like Frankie on the flat.

Best of luck to him tomorrow, looks like he has a potential quick double in anycase.
