Ruby poor words … just him … Mullins … great trainer but given given the ammunition he has had up to now .. greatest thats a bit of a statement. The older ones amoungst us have known some very good ones over the years.

Maybe its the 4 day rather than the 3 day that spreads the horses … more speculation etc. But at the end of the day the races his horses run in has developed into a complete circus. No other trainer does it to that extent. Just an observation, not bashing any poster/irish trainer/english trainer/ or the dog.

What a strange post.for a start there was a whole thread criticising Moore. A bit unfairly i thought too

Are posters not to post their misgivings about mullins so as not to upset some sensitivities? I havent seen anything particularly harsh. Certainly seen far more dubious insinuations about that stable elsewhere (not that agree with them)

Because he doesn’t have the ammunition to do it time and time again – the horse is probably injured simple as that. Added to the fact the whole Mullins thing, whilst mildly entertaining, has developed into a bit of a circus (some of the threads on here are more about which horse he runs in which race rather than an appreciation of the race itself) imo a bit like watching a jose mourinho after match interview. Whilst he is quite entitled to leave his decision until the night before we can all have our opinions to why that is – maybe its just leaving your options open to maximize the stables chance of the most wins. Whether thats in the best interests of the owners is another story.

What happened to Vatour … they did what they thought was right …. maybe they think they got it right as he won but I thought he had a live chance at the blue riband and he didnt win it with anything else. If I was the owner I would have 100% run him there or not at all and he didn’t win it with another horse. Sometimes you only get one chance as poor Vatours fate proved. But its a game of opinions.

Watched also – thought Brough was quality – his comment on Alary was particularly poignant given how the horse ran. Also thought the commentary on winter festival / kempton situation was refreshing. Getting to quite like it.

TNO was quality today – ideally on ground thats softer than good hes the best of the English looking toward the CH – this year you would think is his last chance at a tilt. Very slick hurdling today – really fast.

come march if it was no worse than soft and not good @ 2m – that might be his chance. Personally I’d love him to win and it might be under those circumstances with luck on his side he might do it. NTD was adamant hes one of the best hes trained – hard to argue with that – end of story. The threat from across the sea looms large tho

Wasnt concerned about the time considering Tom had hold of him at ditches and 3rd last and last – the concern to me is that he had to

Was really concerned for the horses safety during todays race. Was peeking behind the hands covering my face at each fence after the first ditch. Could have easily done back damage and I was expecting him to be pulled up after. Guessy and novicey at the water the first or second time (cant remember). After the second ditch if i was riding I would have pulled him up – thats how concerned i was (guess thats why im not a jock).

Bit confused about the interview after with the jock – seemed to make light of it. Pro’s – class is obvious and looks like a chaser. Seems to jump the regulation fences well but the jump at the last was also a concern. Fair play to the connections – right age to do it and if they dont try they dont know. Targeting this race instead of the World Hurdle is what I would have “tried”. Con’s – jumping. With horses around and possibly ahead how will that jumping hold up. Ditches/water/3rd last and last 2 – I have a real concern. Safety could be put at risk by sticking some front runners in and around with a horse that hasnt been racing pace jumping for very long. I like Tom but hope both him and the connections and the trainer know what they are doing.

After all that hes probably nailed on for the GC but taking off that far off those fences -best of luck with that. Hope the horse survives this attempt at it – thats all.

Ginger I think if they didn’t go for the gold cup they would live wondering what might have been. No one breeds a horse, trains a horse and owns a horse to win a world hurdle. It’s either a stepping stone or a place for stayers who can’t jump very well. They would be mad to stick to hurdles. Also because he has a lot of experience over hurdles I don’t think a novice campaign is that necessary. Once he schools find there is no reason why he couldn’t start off in a few of the softer, small field graded staying chases, something like the race that Don cossack won in down royal could be a nice easy start to see if he will make a chaser

He showed such pace today that I wonder why they never considered going fro the Champion Hurdle. 3-mile hurdling is relatively uncompetitive, and it may be his opposition is so poor it’s making him look good.

shaneshill is no slouch – maybe too late to go chasing but didn’t work out for big bucks either. I would think he has schooled but no idea really. The way he powered away .. that talent is not going to last forever. I would go chasing but with only a 2-3 runs. Problem as I see it – think soft ground suits him and plays to his advantage – on a good ground gold cup how confident would you be

Thoroughly enjoyed this years race – first circuit those at the front going all guns blazing – were 3 ahead of the field enjoying themselves. Was nervous with the loose horse near the front … glad to see it didnt cause much trouble. Those getting tired or struggling being pulled up :good: Vics Canvas fantastic run … as soon as Rule the World came up I was rubbing my eyes .. had no idea he could jump those fences  – with that staying pedigree the result wasn’t a surprise as he loomed up. Loved it

The extended 4 days has given them the opportunity for saying what horses go where and then rerouting them. Other owners have the same chance but don’t have the monopoly on the best recruits … Black Hercules today a prime example – a fine recruit – big powerful. The really good job is done that the people that buy them in the first place. But deliberately being misleading about which horse goes for which race that’s completely another thing .. a bit of fun smoke and mirrors is fine .. that always was the case
