Sean, have several customers that only come in to play fixed odds betting  terminals ( FOBT’S) ( gaming machines).

But what is noticeable that during festival meetings or group racing cards my bet slip turnover is doubled.

my over all horse race profit margins are below 5%

    and only 3% on-course

    neither are sustainable long term,

Ladbrokes and W.Hill annual accounts showed that their phone business which is mainly singles on horse racing operated at a loss after expenses.

    the product aint any good

    Zorro, an enlightening piece.

Please, please a thousand times please explain to the powers that be,(they wont listen to me I talk through my pocket).

In the first 9 months of my new betting shop opening it has been very successful.

gross profit from all areas= £4500 pw

gross profit OTC (over the counter) 7% of £30K=£2100

    of which only 40% UK horse racing= £840 less 25% combined taxes (GPT & Levy) = £630.

The Levy board currently accept that 49% of OTC profit is UK racing I am about to produce comp. print outs to challenge this figure.

Last weeks Tote AGM reports claimed only 41% UK horse race profits claiming on-course margins the problem.

On-course bookmakers following betting exchanges blindly will eventually reduce the levy % of profits in shops to zero.

Industry prices will never come about trust me.

    Dear Zome,

I sometimes spend hours trying to post something of interest,  It is immediately trashed as rubbish by another forumite who knows everything about anything,

I have lost my self confidence, feeling depressed, totally insecure and unsure of my future,

betting shop turning over £20K per week over counter

    U.K. horse-racing singles prior to each race 40% i.e. £8K

    profit on this £8K = 7%  Ãƒâ€šÃ‚£560 per week.

    remaining 60%, multiples,sports , lucky 15’s. lucky numbers and all other dross,  i.e. £12K

    profit on this £12K = 25%  Ãƒâ€šÃ‚£3K per week.

is horse-racing and subsequently the levy fighting a losing battle

by highlighting this aftertime loophole last july, I was trying to warn firstly TRF members and eventually all betting exchange users of the dangers,

Ian Davies (I presume but would bet double carpet on)  contacted his ex journalistic pals informing them of my comments, they in turn contacting me for interviews.

the subsequent article in the racing post was ridiculed by a betfair spokesman, as impossible,

my part in aftertiming is minimal and sheer devilment,

i know  I KNOW of several people who make a very good living using these methods on all markets

95% of races have very little strength up to our first show on-course,

liqidity only occurs when punters believe they are beating the market show,

the first 5 mins there is a lot of jockeying of positions both on-course and on exchanges,

the market and strength only stabilises in the last 2 mins

lots of races at certain tracks where I stand can be manipulated early by my investments,

is that o.k. for me to do that ian ?
