I notice this newish website offers pari-mutuel betting with a low takeout from the pool. For example it paid 4.7 on Misty for me compared with 3.6 from the Irish tote.
Has anyone tried it?
Also intriguingly someone said on the RP comment after the race that one of the new pari-mutuel operators paid 8.5 on Misty for Me. But I can’t find this goldmine – does anyone else know it?
In the long run it is hard to see how nationalised tote systems will survive against offshore competition like this.
Having thought this over, I think it’s surely only a matter of time before a user-friendly version of one of these low take tote operators starts taking market share from the Tote, UK bookmakers and Betfair. It shouldn’t be that difficult to organise the software for say a 3% takeout tot, as these French sites have proved. Yet there has been little or no discussion about it in the mainstream media.
