Jac, he’s down to be running in the Guemel Stakes at Saint-Cloud at 1.30pm today

Thanks Graham.
Last Kingdom down to run at 12.30 on Paddy Power site, just got on at 10/11f…confusing or what Racing Post didn’t even list the St. Cloud meeting and Last Kingdom doesn’t have an entry to run until 8th October.
anyway good luck all let’s hope he wins by 5 lengths.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...September 9, 2016 at 12:07 #1262552I have backed Taamol with a saver on Senator.
I agree the form of Senator is terrible but he will improve for the extra furlong in any case and just something about the horse I like. I think he’s more likely to be progressive than Majoris who is a horse I’m not mad on. Maybe it’s when they put the headgear on that puts me off. Cheekpieces, a tongue tie, blinkers etc, as soon as I see a horse wearing something I immediately put a line through it. Not sensible I know.
In fact when I saw Hydroxide was wearing something in only his second run yesterday I knew I had done my dough even though he was only beaten a short head in the end…
Ideal jock for Senator and I have a weakness for anything with a flashy white muzzle.
I accept Jac that you don’t rate him on form but as far as I’m concerned there’s only one place for a formbook, and that’s in the little boys room
Very much like you judge as far as flashy white muzzles are concerned and grey horses a real weakness
..that’s why I followed Kool Kompany to the end of the Earth and back, I’ve even got a RP picture mug of himself powering home in the Craven at Newmarket. As for form I can take it or leave it I just don’t like to see a horse start in a Cl.4 and then be entered up in a Cl.5 before going to try his luck in Listed company and I know he won both of those races and Majoris followed a similar path before winning at Newmarket in a really impressive fashion and that was the race that really impressed me and why I favour him today, but with Tamool and Salsabeel it really is a tricky race.
Wish Senator all the luck and good luck with your bets today judge, I have Salsabeel with a reverse forecast with Majoris (also EW)

September 9, 2016 at 12:37 #1262557Got checked at the crucial time and ran through for 2nd. Good winner though.

September 9, 2016 at 12:46 #1262558He ran really well but the winner flew home impressively.
Thanks for the link Tim I just got to see the race thanks to you
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...September 9, 2016 at 13:16 #1262561Yes Senator has beaten nothing but that’s not his fault and I think he will be a lot better for the longer trip. Definitely looks a decent race though with 4 unbeaten colts in it.
Just to say that Toulifaut’s win today means that the win/races ratio for Frankel fillies now stands at a scarcely believable 10/12!!! This includes 3 individual Group winners.
I don’t believe it!!!!
The fillies Fair Eva, Queen Kindly, Harba and Moon Mountain have each lost one race. So a paltry 10/14 only. What a shocker!!!
Is there a pattern developing already? Ratio of winners to runners is 5 out of 7 for the fillies (including Japanese filly, so that’s worldwide) and 5 out of 12 for the colts. That’s a statistically significant difference!
September 9, 2016 at 13:52 #1262563Agreed Sunspangled. I think we can certainly say that, so far, the fillies are more tractable and therefore much more capable of running to their best whereas many of the colts are wilful and spoil their chances either before the race or at the start. Many of them have dwelt and ran very green. The one today sweated up a bit but did little wrong in the race, just didn’t get the clearest of runs. Harba and Moon Mountain were both pretty green as well so it is not JUST the boys but certainly on the whole they seem harder to handle.
Saying that, most trainers are in agreement that, when the penny drops, they will run their hearts out for you. So they are genuine. Remember back to Frankel as a 2 year old when he pulled hard during the Dewhurst having been lit up. The same thing happened to Seven Heavens (easily the best of the colts so far in my opinion) the other day. Unfortunately they don’t have the genius of dear old Sir Henry to help them grow up and be good little boys but they ARE generally with top trainers who will hopefully learn as they go.

September 9, 2016 at 16:20 #1262585Looks like neither Senator nor Majoris had trouble-free runs in the Flying Scotsman.
September 9, 2016 at 16:42 #1262589Giving up betting on two year old races, maybe others can make a go of it, but for me it’s like playing the frigging lottery.
September 9, 2016 at 17:13 #1262597It wasn’t a very satisfactory race St Nic but to be honest i think the best 3 horses fought out the finish.

September 9, 2016 at 23:45 #1262658Salsabeel just touched of by Simon Crisford’s Rodaini, a horse that I didn’t really consider and it was oh so close, think he might just have got his head in front just past the post
Majoris and Senator unlucky to meet interference with Senator running much too freely in the early stages and then being hampered on the rail by Bacchus although I think he had run his race by then.
Meanwhile Majoris was not allowed to get into his stride for home as the fast finishing Larchmont Lad and the winner Rodaini made him the meat in the sandwich as they surged forward to fight out the finish with Salsabeel.
Disappointing run from Tamool outpaced on the outside.Don’t give up on the 2yo’s judge as races like this often throw out big clues for future races and it’s great to see some of them progress to better things as 3yo’s and possibly Classic success. They are the future Champions
(but not today
)
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...September 10, 2016 at 08:46 #1262699I don’t know if anyone ever looks at Bath racecards but another new one should be out today as Palmer introduces the Al Shaqab Racing owned KHATTAR daughter of Danceabout in the 3.50 Maiden, the horse is the only one in the line up without any racecourse experience. Best price 7/2.
Khattar currently holds an entry for the Derby.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
September 10, 2016 at 09:44 #1262725He is supposed to work well Nath – fingers crossed.

September 10, 2016 at 10:22 #1262736Only managed to get 5/2 KHATTAR with Paddy Power just now Nathan for my Frankel Flyers Thread bet but best price is guaranteed.
Worried that he will need the race as he’s plunged in at a mile for his first run, but hope he wins.
Hugo Palmer says he looks like his damsire Shareef Dancer (dam is Danceabout) but moves like Frankel, what a lovely combination
Hugo Palmer has 3 Frankel’s in training Nathan/Joni and he’s keeping the very best until last
TZAVO – a colt by Hazel Lavery (Excellent Art) and he says he is the spitting image of his dad an impressive looker, he even goes as far as to say he could be the heir to his dad and is hard to fault…that’s some introduction, so where will he turn out?? can’t wait to see this one

JacI did Salsabeel yesterday, I’d mentioned him a couple of times on the thread and it ended up one of those finishes that could have gone either way. He maybe didn’t come forward quite as much as I felt he might but a good effort in a tight fought contest. Sometimes the nod goes your way but you tend to remember the ones that don’t more.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
