Sandown 4.35 .. KING POWER – 4/1
Sandown 5.05 .. NEW KING – 11/1The former NOT trained by Chaz Applepie but Andrew Balding for the in form King Power Racing ridden by Silvestre de Sousa and she holds an Oaks entry.
The latter trained by John Gosden and ridden by Oisin Murphy..

Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 25, 2019 at 23:18 #1422862Just in case anyome was fearfully of the end of Charlie Appleby’s car-ear with God-dolphin, I am shure it was a slipp of the keybord or mind-bored that had mim replacing Andrew Baldy as King Power’s trainee!
April 25, 2019 at 23:27 #1422869Lol MV I wad just pipping bick to currekt tsht..

I love reading your posts and your constantly positive attitude is an inspiration to all of us. I hope you have a fantastic season, that it will NOT be your last, but that if it is you will have lots of great Frankel winners to cheer on starting with EAST in the 1,000 Guineas ;)
This King Power running today is supposed to be pretty good too……

April 26, 2019 at 22:45 #1423331No luck for King Power today Joni and Chaos but she can only improve for that so look forward to her next run.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 27, 2019 at 18:04 #1423485Imo the best current Frankel horse is King’s Advice (but I don’t know them all).
When I once saw him in Düsseldorf, I wouldn’t have anticipated his skyrocket development.
To be honest I don’t quite understand why he isn’t appreciated here more?
His handicapping days will soon be over, and I can’t make out why Johnston shouldn’t run him in group races
April 27, 2019 at 23:45 #1423567Kings Advice is a very smart horse hein with both Frankel and the late Queens Logic what a pedigree he has.
This was his best race to date but he was much too short a price for me so I went for his half brother Frankuus at 10/1 last night an ex Mark Johnston horse who has Group 3 winning form, to beat him and half way through the race I got quite excited thinking he would do it but Kings Advice came from midfield and powered past him in the last 2 furlongs for an easy victory although I think this was his hardest race to date at Class 2.
He seems to have thrived at Mark Johnstons yard hein and you’ll be pleased to see he’s entered in yet another Handicap on Friday at Musselburgh stepping back to Class 3 he should notch up yet another success.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 28, 2019 at 09:21 #1423663Thank you Jac, nice to read that KA gets some recognition
Thanks for the info about his entry, but he will be ultra-short there,
I really think Johnston should try a listed or even group race for him
April 28, 2019 at 10:54 #1423712He’s a nice horse who was literally thrown in on a mark of 71 when he got to this country! Charlie Johnston said yesterday that they would probably step him up in trip now as he stays really well. Could be listed/Group 3 class eventually…

April 28, 2019 at 14:15 #1423864Thanks for the kind words Joni it’s much appreciated.
Distressed once again that EMINENT was pulled up today. They MUST retire him now, he’s suffered enough.
All comers, all ground, all beaten
April 28, 2019 at 17:13 #1423910Totally agree Chaos what on earth are they doing to him I’m seriously concerned about his welfare at the moment and just want him back in the UK and happily retired…Jac
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...April 28, 2019 at 17:47 #1424099I totally agree about Eminent. The racing industry is trying hard to portray itself as being very caring of the horses who provide the entertainment, and this sort of thing is very detrimental.
On a brighter note – Do the Frankels just get better with age? Two notables today. Early this morning five-year-old Simply Brilliant (ex-Senator with Richard Fahey) became a millionaire, in pounds sterling, by garnering just over £200,000 when he finished third in a Group 1 in Hong Kong. At Navan this afternoon the four-year-old Master Of Reality became Frankel’s umpteenth Group winner when winning the Vintage Crop Stakes, leading from start to finish to run about ten pounds better than his previous best. As a Frankel fan, perhaps there is some merit in the repeatedly rejected idea of having no two-year-old races, and moving the classics to four-year-olds. As a racing fan, how silly; I love two-year-old racing, despite the politically correct brigade wanting to castigate me for advocating such strenuous competition at the human-equivalent age of 13!
April 28, 2019 at 22:24 #1424604MASTER OF REALITY becomes another group winner today

All comers, all ground, all beaten
April 29, 2019 at 10:59 #1426440Clearly wasn’t the ear plugs with Eminent was it? Agree he doesn’t seem to be enjoying it anymore and ought to be retired. I don’t think he’ll be coming back here though Jac. I understood the plan was to go to stud in New Zealand.
Master of Reality ran a great race yesterday. Looks like he’ll get further so we might be seeing him in cup races this year. Gelding seems to have done the trick for him (as with Simply Brilliant)
April 29, 2019 at 13:36 #1426843and on that note, I’ve just noticed that Weekender has been gelded over the winter. Maybe worth following this year? (Entry in Saturday’s Jockey Club Stakes…)
April 29, 2019 at 17:27 #1429028Yes great to have another Group winner and Master Of Reality does look to have improved. Perhaps it’s age or perhaps it’s being gelded and perhaps that’s what they ought to have done with dear old Eminent! I agree that they should draw stumps now. It is always difficult when you have a horse like him who clearly has a mind of his own. Martin Meade always spoke very highly of him as does Mark Todd so he obviously shows plenty of zest at home. I think he is a horse that you have to catch right and probably needs plenty of time between his races. He certainly needs to lead as he spits out the dummy pretty quickly when asked to sit in. Anyway, enough is enough now I would say.
Reading the superb new Cecil biography it is very clear that Frankel himself would not have been the horse he became if he hadn’t been with a great like Henry. He needed such delicate handling and I’m sure Henry is looking down at some of his progeny and the way they are being trained and tutting to himself. If only he had been granted a few more years to be able to look after a few of them… It is a shame that some of them need to be gelded to show themselves at their best.
