What a great win!
We battered them in the first half but didn’t score. I feared we might pay for it in the second half, especially as we were playing into a strong headwind.
We were still the better team in the second half and should have finished it earlier. In the end, Renshaw had to make two great saves from about their only chance. And then we win it in added time, just as I had got up and was beginning to walk out of the stand!
We needed it given the way the other results went but it was thoroughly deserved.
Every team can have a bad game but how are Merthyr in third place? They are the worst team I have seen all season by some distance.
January 24, 2026 at 18:24 #1751737They lost Ricardo Rees to Forest Green Jan 1st, Savage calls him the Non League Harland. 23 goals in 25 matches in National League North this season. Im very surprised by Kings Lynn and Herefords league position so far this season.
Cobbs loose 0-2 at Blackpool, Brackley and Hartlepool play out a goalless draw, but Banbury shock the league leaders with a 1-2 away win. No returns, but a very busy Feb coming up to hopefully pull a few quid back.
January 25, 2026 at 17:56 #1751880There was a good tribute before yesterday’s game to Tony Field and Eric Redrobe. The players certainly did them proud yesterday.
I heard a few Geordie sounding accents when I was halfway into my train journey home. Then I remembered South Shields had been playing Marine that afternoon. It sounded like they enjoyed it, especially as Shields equalised in the 98th minute!
South Shields play Fylde on Tuesday night. If they win, they will be in a very strong position. Maybe they could soften Fylde up as well, ahead of their FA Trophy game with Southport next Saturday!
January 26, 2026 at 13:08 #1751995So the top two South Shields and Fylde play, close at the top a proper 6 pointer for Shields. A win for Fylde would put them 3 points behind with a game in hand for that one automatic place. Perhaps they will give a big go to close the gap and treat Saturday as squad match. I see Southport play Buxton tomorrow and the home side are favourites. A few more wins and youll be thinking play offs CAS.
I see the Gas have run out of the new manger bounce and could be in the relegation zone soon. Some tough fixtures coming up against Franchise FC, Walsall and a lunch time KO against Newport County this Saturday. That will be a feisty match no doubt.
January 26, 2026 at 13:38 #1752000Tuesday
Rotherham V Northampton H 5/4 D 11/4 A 2/1Northampton, completely out of form, not looking like scoring, no strikers signed. The Nolan out thread started on the Cobbs forum, not many saying he should stay. But I can see Cobbs winning this. Tom Eves was only a sub Saturday, presumably Nolan is saving him for this fixture against his former team.
BTTS Cobbs win 4@6
Correct Score 1-3 1@28s
Eves 2 or more (Hillls Impact Sub). 2@16s
Eves Hattrick (Hillls Impact Sub) 1.61@90s
Could see Eves being subbed after 75 mins, he also take the Pens now.Banbury V St Ives H 5/6 D 13/5 A 13/5
After Banbury beat the league leaders Saturday, they should back that up with a win over ST Ives. Theres not much between them in the league, but Banbury will be playing there first match at home for a while and that should be enough.
Win Double Banbury and Cobbs 5@9/2-13.61

I am not thinking that far ahead but our performance on Saturday was the best I have seen this season. I genuinely believe this team should finish in mid table.
Buxton are full time but we have already beaten them twice this season. If we can play as well as we did on Saturday, we should win.
It was a pity we got off to such a poor start. Otherwise the play offs would have been realistic.
January 27, 2026 at 12:34 #1752136Hereford called off again tonight. OK, the weather is not good right now. But at what point do the authorities have to step in? The Edgar Street pitch is clearly a problem.
It can’t be doing Hereford any good either. They have games in hand but there is going to be some serious fixture congestion for them later in the season.
January 27, 2026 at 13:40 #1752141There is a thread here.
https://saveedgarstreetforum.proboards.com/thread/8745/tuesday-postponedSome suggest playing elsewhere. It is mentioned that Farsley had a similar problem last season, but after a quick search I cant see anything.
January 27, 2026 at 14:09 #1752147Farsley ground shared with Buxton, which wasn’t good for their support but at least it meant they played their games.
Southport’s match has been called off. It is reported the ground is unsafe due to damage sustained during the high winds.
I find that rather surprising. It hasn’t been particularly windy in Liverpool, even down by the Waterfront. It can get quite breezy around Haig Avenue (as it was on Saturday) but it must have been really severe to render the ground unfit.
I don’t expect Buxton were relishing a journey over the Cat and Fiddle. And a postponement isn’t too bad for Southport either. It is a chance to get over all the travelling and to rest before the Trophy clash with Fylde.
January 27, 2026 at 16:20 #1752172South Shields v Fylde is off as well. What a pity. Fylde will now be fresh as daisies for the Trophy game.
January 27, 2026 at 17:49 #1752181Perhaps they would have been on their way..so will stop at a pub on the way back. One can hope for that.
January 27, 2026 at 17:56 #1752182National League Cup
Boreham Wood V Brackley, its the quarter finals, the home side doing well at the top end of the league, Brackley mid table.
Just a correct score bet tonight for an interest as no idea of the line ups.Boreham Wood 3-0 1@12s
-1-92
January 27, 2026 at 18:38 #1752187Freds got me again, 13/5 Cobbs win. Expecting our new striker to appear from the bench and run them ragged in the last 15 mins, unless his mom says its bed time. Hes a 17 year old England age group player on loan from Leicester..
15 @13/5
-107.January 28, 2026 at 15:10 #1752245Banbury won, 2-1 unfortunately thats the only bit I got right.
Cobbs was looking good at 1-0 up at half time with Eves scoring first. In the second half Cobbs denied a clear penalty, which Eves would have taken and probably put the match to bed at that point. Only for Rotherham to equalise and go on and win. The kid was allowed to play in the last 10 mins and could be decent (has played 4 times in the Premier League at 16), but I fear relegation is coming.
If Cobbs go down, I wouldn’t be shocked if they ended up in the National League 27/28.Brackley lost, Boreham Wood 3 up at half time, and the final score being 5-2.
January 28, 2026 at 15:17 #1752246I could have done without Peterborough Sports coming back from 3-1 down to win 4-3.
Telford beat Merthyr 4-1. After hovering above the relegation places a few weeks ago, they are now just outside the play offs.
January 29, 2026 at 17:43 #1752390Saturday Matches
Banbury V Barwell H 3/5 D 13/5 A 4/1
This depends on who’s up for it, I suspect a draw.Sutton United V Brackley H 6/5 D 9/4 A 21/10
Brackley very strong in defence now and can score, another draw.Northampton V Reading H 2/1 D 11/5 A 11/8
Its tempting to say the 2/1 on Cobbs is a good price, but Reading do something Cobbs don’t. They score goals.Treble Banbury Draw, Sutton Draw, Reading win 1@ 26/1
Correct score PAT, going against the above bets.
0.5 PAT
Cobbs 2-0 @14s
Brackley 1-2 @ 10s
Banbury 3-1 @ 11s
-4.5
Ongoing -111.5Deeper look on Saturday lunch time.
January 30, 2026 at 19:53 #1752543So the Brackley manager joins the EFL with Shrewsbury, gutted, but the lad needs his chance. So best wishes and thanks for his time.
