To be fair wilson, Great Leighs is still very much under construction and nowhere near complete and if people factor this into their visits they shouldn’t be upset as it’s to be expected, though it’s fair to ask in my opinion why they opened in this state and late, why couldn’t they wait until they were finished? (we know the answer is money)
Worst racecourse?
You wouldn’t get me to glorious Goodwood again if you offered to provide me with a lift there and back, a grands betting money and the beulah twins for in-between-races entertainment as it’s impossible to enjoy when too many people are let in. Brighton for it’s piss poor standard of racing, Huntingdon for it’s piss poor management and late cancellations but the winner has to be Worcester boating lakes for the obvious reason, if it is still eligible in this category.
(okay, I lied, if you throw in the beulah twins I will go back to Goodwood but I doubt I’d leave the limo)
November 28, 2008 at 01:04 #192666I think you’re being unfair on Not So Great Leighs. They’ve had a lot on their plate and have been working through what needs to be done in order of priority.
Now that they’ve got the urgent matter of finding some spurious grounds to get their field sizes restricted below 16 out of the way they can move on to less pressing concerns, like getting a grandstand, some bookmakers and some paying customers.
November 28, 2008 at 01:09 #192667Ascot would be my nomination for worst racecourse.

Unfair? funny how they have the backbone to sell tickets at £15.00 for an incomplete infrastructure. Another thing, I brought half a larger, a diet coke and a tea which come to £6.20. Not doing to bad are they?
