20th suddenly looking dodgy for me
Early Dec is better but any thoughts of a Tingle Creek meet?
That sounds good
November 11, 2008 at 22:25 #189250Tingle Creek weekend is not on for me.
It won’t be possible to please everyone.
I think Jeremy – who first suggested this meet – should make the call, for better or worse.
November 12, 2008 at 02:15 #189287Oooh, that poses a bit of a dykey lemon, doesn’t it!
I wouldn’t be too keen on doing the Awards shortlisting on Tingle Creek day, to be honest, as I can imagine that neither the noise nor the sheer number of bodies inside Sandown that afternoon are going to be especially conducive to some reasoned debate.
Besides which, if we’re anything like the racing fans we purport to be, wouldn’t our thoughts be directed entirely on the likely top-class animals on show at the Esher track?
Nevertheless, as I’ve not got any work lined up that weekend (one last Saturday and Sunday off before the silly season!), I’m still planning on being at the Tingle Creek meeting, plus Tweseldown point-to-point the following day, if anyone else fancies it.
Remind me – what was it that was putting some people off the 19th? Home internationals, wasn’t it? How many of you is that likely to account for? If it’s a case of finding a reasonably convivial pub or eatery with a telly showing the football in it, I presume Pruf, Clive, Salselon, Rory etc. may know of places.
Actually, come to think of it, wouldn’t Kempton Park have the footie on, have a ton of space, and also provide slightly less distracting fare than Tingle Creek day?
As I have understood the previous posts (and apologies if I’ve misinterpreted anything), I’ve got us down as being okay for dates as follows;
Wednesday 19/11;
Carlisle, Clivex, Gingertipster, Graysonscolumn, Paulostermeyer, Prufrock (2nd preference), RoryThursday 20/11;
Carlisle, Graysonscolumn, Prufrock, RorySaturday 6/12;
Clivex, Graysonscolumn, Paulostermeyer(plus hopefully hundreds of others on any date tbc
)I think I’m edging back towards the 19th, but that does depend a lot on how big a deal the footie is – I’m ambivalent, but I appreciate some might not be.
Cheers!
Jeremy

November 12, 2008 at 02:21 #189290Not fussed about the football but 19th ok with me. Kempton is a doddle for me (but no drinking which might not be a bad thing) Lowlander is fine too
November 12, 2008 at 02:24 #189291(PS hope you appreciated my answer to Pruf’s question there, Clivex – ballsachingly accommodating and reasonable. How very LibDem.

November 12, 2008 at 02:26 #189292If the footie is on Sky Kempton generaly show it.
If it is on Setanta they don’t show it.

I think everyone should goto Lingfield or Plumpton
November 13, 2008 at 01:23 #189456Sorry Jeremy, I will not be available for the 19th as will be studying for Wincanton.
It is a bit of a busy time that week.

Value Is EverythingNovember 13, 2008 at 01:40 #189467Jeremy,
Unfortunately won’t be able to make it – have moved to lands afar, or Geneva to be precise.
EnjoyNovember 14, 2008 at 14:51 #189691Time for a roll call ?
November 15, 2008 at 03:52 #189854Basically whosoever can make it out next Wednesday, I reckon, Clive. Is the general consensus Kempton Park over a city centre pub?

November 15, 2008 at 14:32 #189891I will go with the majority but given a choice would prefer Kempton
November 15, 2008 at 15:43 #189897All of which reminds me that it is almost time for the 2008 TRF awards.
Coming soon.
November 17, 2008 at 01:28 #190138Kempton for me please
November 18, 2008 at 14:32 #190417Kempton tomorrow night for the TRF Southern Faction meet-up it is, then!

I’ve not a cat in hell’s of getting there for the first race at 5.50, but I should be around from race two onwards – drop me a PM if you want to swap mobile numbers.
Maybe one of us can dig out the list of Awards categories between now and then as well?
