On to the question could it possibly be that most famous hamster eater Freddie Starr ?

It certainly could! The Freddie Starr Chase was run as a 3m4f handicap chase at Windsor until 1989, whereupon a match for that year’s renewal led to its dropping in distance to 3m for two subsequent years. The race passed into someone else’s sponsorship thereafter.

Starr also sponsored a handicap hurdle at Windsor (initially 2m6f, latterly 2m30yds; the 1988 renewal attracted 26 runners on the day!) up to and including March 1992, and a Yarmouth card from August 1988 reveals evidence of a Freddie Starr Handicap on the Flat as well.

    Ok, good sir, your turn!

Mill Reef and a certain Ms Balding?

Spot on. I’ll leave it to you and Homer to see who asks the next question.

    Homer,

As I didn’t realise your "clue" was effectively your way of answering the question (was thinking it was your question), I’ll let you have the honour…
