Scary to think that elliot saying he has a few like malone road to come, was a fascinating matchup, but that was seriously impressive, 6/1 is generous IMO for the champ bumper. Considering this was one of willies better ones in mt leinster
November 19, 2018 at 11:05 #1381015Personally Ham i think MT Leinster has been hyped up for other reasons…you’d be worried if that was willies best bumper horse this year considering he has a pile of good ones last year!
Malone Road seriously looks a spaceship lol

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!November 20, 2018 at 15:20 #1381141Yeah maybe so regarding mt leinster, too early to know where he sits in the pecking order, dont think 6/1 about malone road is a bad price for march, was pretty spectacular how he just took off, his price aint going to shorten since hes off until the fes, could suppose get bigger once mullins sends more out so ill wait, will take a good one to get near him nevermind beat him!

2 point speedo boy @9/2December 1, 2018 at 14:42 #1387728Speedo boy just caught out on the ground, he could be an fes any race bet, better ground will see him exploit this mark
Hattons grace
1 point e/w bapaume @16/1 A horse im a big big fan of may not be his day today but hes a grade 1 animal for me.

1.5 points e/w the grand visir @6/1 The fav looked good on his british debut, scooted clear of a good horse in 2nd and ultimately eased towards the finish, but these types of horses like thengrand visir are what i think williams does best with, that flat profile that he seems
To get a tune out of over a hurdle, london prize was another example, he has capabillities if transferring the form and could well run to mid 140s FTOTingle creek
1 point e/w sceau royal @13/2 He landed a nice touch for me in this card last year, a horse who i feel is ber underrated, reaslitically he is not as good as altior and the likelyhood of him becoming that good is slim, but hes a neat jumper who this trip is more than ideal, ideally id think he would like good in the going description somewhere but im not too concerned, UDS is just a phenominal horse, but hes rising 11 and id be disappointed if sceau royal wasnt able to improve past, he didnt look like slowing down at punchestown though, saint calvados was my arkle horse last season l, i dont rate the race LTO too highly as footpad clearly amiss, although giving weight he still butied a 140 horse fairlu easily
To summarise, altior the most likely winner, but FTO against this field over a trip that may not play to his strengths, hard to back uds at his age and then the two youngsters in behind who id like to see step up, especially SR
Henry 8th
5 points lalor @10/11 Yeah, shouldnt be beaten and a short price, doesnt put me off though he should be 1/2, diakali very fortunate to be unbeaten over a fence and i doubt mullins would have let a grade 1 jumper out of his yard, lalor looks a beast.
December 15, 2018 at 11:46 #1389400Meant to put this up last night but will do it now with current prices
International hurdle:
I have backed Brain power @13/2 On the basis that, yes he definitely was not a standout novice chaser last season, BUT he still finished 2nd in the arkle (distant) and was going to finish 2nd in the henry the 8th at sandown, both grade 1s, its not the worst formline for a horse who supposedly is no use over a fence (ive said this myself previously), its been 2 seasons since he went hurdling so theres a firm formline to follow now and tbh im not certain it warrants his high 150s rating over hurdles BUT again there is some useful form there, 3 lengths down in a weak punchestown champion hurdle, he won the 2 miler at ascot very well giving a fair beating to consul de thaix who was fairly useful himself, if he had remained over hurdles i think he would have picked up atleast a grade 2 somewhere along the way and i think getting weight from nearly all round today after a useful enough prep he shouldnt be far away, summerville boy needs it atleast verging on heavy for me, the rain is here now but will it get in enough before the off, would have to jump a hell of alot better also, silver streak needs better ground, which hes likely to not get now, being by dark angel how much more improvement can he have? No a fan of western ryder, was fairly optimistic about him last season but im not sure hes upto much, we have a dream – no thanks, vision de flos, the other one i considered backing, on last years form he would be bang there, but for whatever reason he hasnt fired yet, theres every posibillity he could today, if i end up saving, it will be on him,
Old guard & the new one have too much weight for me, the former is a good horse but this is a solid race and the latter will likely run his final race today, hope he gets round in one piece, hes been a smashing horse!!Brain power 5 points @13/2 Max bet for me in this
December 15, 2018 at 15:15 #1389449More than makes up for lalor breaking my heart last week! Delighted with that!
December 15, 2018 at 21:14 #1389487Well worked out ham. I haven’t backed him since the CH so can’t feel put out, so a hearty well done to you and anyone else who spotted that he would make the most of the opportunity.
December 15, 2018 at 22:37 #1389499Nice Five Pointer Ham, well done.
December 16, 2018 at 14:23 #1389551Thanks both, not the biggest fan of the horse but did look a stand out getting weight, not one ill likely back up in grade
Navan 3.10
1 point well set up @ 11s Just a smallish bet taking on envoi allen, wasnt as impressed with hum as the market suggests, price tag and connections making him
Shorter than he probably should be, happy to side with the mare who beat a half decent sort in january, long layoff but worth a small stake against a fav im not as hyped up about as most.December 17, 2018 at 19:44 #1389657Nice one with Brain Power Ham!
Interesting that Emmet Mullins has Tornado Watch entered at Ascot this weekend Ham- nice recent form, needs right handed track + trainer’s as shrewd as they come.
That last run was eye catching and was a pretty hot handicap.
14s might be worth a dabble just need to see if he’s thought to be running…

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 18, 2018 at 23:21 #1389701Cheers jack
Really not keen kn this envoi allen, my selection was a mile off, but i feel theres just alot of hype around this horse! Unecessarily, There will be a nice lay for me at some point!
Will keep my eye out for him jack hes certainly priced with enough firms to suggest its a posibillity, you wouldnt think his overall form would be worth the cost of sending him over, could be a nice plot in there

Really hoping they get salsretta out this weekend, havent included anything in this thread yet antepost for the MNH at cheltenham but i will be in the next day or two think shes a massive price at 25/1
Really didnt like relegate again today!
December 19, 2018 at 19:51 #1389739Hopefully they run him anyway, i’ve taken a little of the 14s.
On Envoi Allen, i don’t think he’s a bumper horse at all- Malone Road was much more a horse for the now than him. I was at Down Royal for MR’s debut and he wasn’t the typical pointer in size which would help explain why he’s got such a turn of foot. Whereas EA looks more of a stayer for the future to me. He’ll have one more bumper runner this year i suspect + then hurdles.
Salsaretta is a big price- i’d be prepared to wait for a while to see what else he has up his sleeve. He’s meant to have loads of good mares again as usual.Relegate is a stayer for me + will follow the Augusta Kate route, Champion bumper> then taking on the boys in one of the novice hurdles at the Fez. I quite like Colreevy as a mare, but Mullins tends to have faster French ones!

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 20, 2018 at 23:54 #1389815Yeah ill have a nibble on the day i think jack hes a fair enough price and i do like those angles that youv highlighted, its not an obvious target for him on form and that usually itself is a tip in the right direction
Long walk hurdle
2 points e/w paisley park @9/1 Think thats a really nice price, him and agrapart are the only two i can see winning, but looking back through what agrapart has done i think hes over achieved, call me lord on the sandown run would give you confidence he will get the trip, but he beat lil rockerfeller that day who was well out of sorts, had been pulled up 2 weeks prior and was probably feeling the effects of a 3rd run in a little over a month, wholestone has proven to be a bit hit and miss sonim not certain that form is upto much, UKWIMH, won well LTO but was probably more to with weight received than anything else, hes a solid yardstick and will probably run to his rating but i wouldnt think that will be good enough, sam spinner if given a no nonsense ride and set to work early, might bring around a revival, he should get an easy lead as there no obvious front runner in this and with a good few of these not certain stayers he could place, but hes not looked the same horse as he did early part of last season, soul emotion, younevercall, garo de juilley and the mighty don all probably want better ground, theres more rain coming and it just might stretc them at a trip there not certain to get, top notch im fairly certain will be back over fences after this and its just a tune up, west approach, never been keen, hasnt really done anything since ruby got him a 3rd in The cleeve, but tizzard horses in staying races should never be forgotten totally and hes a right old price, but he has a stone to find and hes fairly exposes, ill be surprised if he can find that. Finally paisley park, that was a mighty run LTO, giving a heap of weight away, heavy ground may be an issue, progeny of oscar do get on fine with it, i backed him for the AB but that was a really odd race last season and if you forget that run, hes never been out the top 2, cant see him being unplaced unless its a bog then ill probably save on agrapart
