A UK court finally shows this abomimable man in his true colours
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-51756984
As many will know I have never been a fan of this man and have been critical of him in the past – how much longer are his acolytes in the press room going to defend this vile man?
He should be thrown out of racing but, of course, it will never happen as racing long lost any morality when it comes to money.
March 5, 2020 at 18:06 #1484658Agreed completely, Paul; sadly, money trumps everything else in the modern world.
More on the story here:
March 5, 2020 at 19:15 #1484662Well, he seems to have loads of influence no matter what the courts will tell you.
It would be a small and welcome step when, let’s say Charlie Appleby would stop training for him. What are the chances for this to happen? Maybe 1000/1 cause it’s a certainty not to happen. How British/Irish/French jockeys will stop riding for him? The same answer……
Bloodstock agents, racing managers, clerks of the courses and so on….. Name the first one who’ll start boycotting him.
March 5, 2020 at 19:40 #1484666Completely agree – surely he fails the fit and proper test. It is shocking for the image of racing to have such people involved.
March 5, 2020 at 19:48 #1484668I don’t know what to say really other than I’ve been so utterly appalled at what I’ve read today. Not a good link for the sport at all. Sadly not sure anything will change.
March 5, 2020 at 20:48 #1484677This was published, somewhat buried, on the (formerly Mr Mo owned) Racing Post website. Utter dogshit and only quote comes from Mr Mo but interesting to see how it is dealt with in tomorrow’s print edition
Nothing on Attheraces, Sporting Life or Irish Racing. Can’t see any prominent journalists mentioning this on twitter either.
I’m sure if an anonymous poll was held regarding Mr Mo’s banishment from the sport, it would most probably overwhelmingly endorse same. However, if the sport’s representatives and voices are silent then Mr Mo will continue to bask in the sport’s legitimising glow with impunity.
March 6, 2020 at 06:22 #1484693Through its dependence on Middle East patronage, racing has shown itself to be amoral for years. Do not expect the racing media to say or do anything about this story. And no trainers will make any kind of stand.
And anyone who thinks all Dubai’s wealth is because of oil needs to get out more.
March 6, 2020 at 07:05 #1484696The Guardian reports:

The Racing Post report:
March 6, 2020 at 12:30 #1484707I agree with the sentiments expressed by posters on this thread and it is interesting that TRF powers-that-be have not yet moved in to the Lounge given that the similar displacement of Ginger’s original thread about the issue has in large part robbed members, at least temporarily, of the enjoyment and entertainment of his contributions.
March 6, 2020 at 14:16 #1484711It was not appropriate at that time.
The “family court judgment” is now in the public domain.
March 6, 2020 at 14:24 #1484712really? It was appropriate then and its appropriate now…. The family court judgement being public does bot suddenly now make it anymore relevant than it was when ginge brought it up
This place sometimes
March 6, 2020 at 14:44 #1484713Cormack and I spend a lot of our time trying keep this place running smoothly and appropriately.
I am sorry if you feel we do a bad job of it.
March 6, 2020 at 15:30 #1484720Maybe you could make it up to us by putting your neck out on the twitter feed. Stand tall in a field of cowards
March 6, 2020 at 15:47 #1484722@Bachelors Hall
The “Twitter” feed is run by Cormack exclusively.
March 6, 2020 at 19:15 #1484744March 7, 2020 at 13:32 #1484839The infamous Latifa thread was left on TRF for anyone who was interested to debate (it is still there) – I moved it to what I felt at the time was a more appropriate forum. We rarely move topics and, thankfully, even more rarely perform any sort of editing (deleting threads, etc). Maybe I am misjudged it but there you go, wasn’t the first or probably the last time we’ll make a judgement call that not everyone is happy with. We try to moderate firmly but with minimum fuss or intervention on TRF and I am happy that 99.9% of the time we seem to manage that.
We didn’t deprive anyone of GT’s contributions, his exile is entirely self-imposed.

March 8, 2020 at 13:56 #1484943To my surprise they did actually talk about this on Luck on Sunday (5 minutes in a 2 and a half hour programme). I agree with Richard Hoiles. There is enough wriggle room in the Fit and Proper Person definition for the racing authorities to do nothing and hope everyone just forgets about it.
If the sport is happy to accept major sponsorship from Qatar it is quite clear it has already lost its moral compass. It is not going to do anything about Sheikh Mo.
