January 26, 2021 at 17:50 #15198199s coko beach
14s run wild fredWill do me
January 27, 2021 at 00:44 #1519883As mentioned earlier in the thread i am pretty hot on Brahma Bull for this. The initial entries were more exciting than the actual declarations i think and normally i’d have a couple of bets in a handicap like this but i’m not sure i will here.
I still firmly believe he’s got at least 6pds in hand off 151. I think he’ll be the type to win decent lower graded races, without ever being a G1 contender. There is of course, a slight reservation about how his jumping will hold up but that’s my only real concern.
Mullin’s has a great record in the race + Hayes gets on well with BB (2/2). Hayes is a jockey that wouldn’t catch the eye to many, but when riding over fences for WPM he’s 31 runners, 5 winners and 9 others 2nd-4th, so he does well.If there’s one i’d be tempted and only slightly tempted to add it’s Roarrrring Bull. He’s running off 141 here after having finished 5th in this last year off 142 with Davy Russell on board. This year he has a very promising claimer on board Jordan Gainford who takes off a handy 7lbs. I first noticed JG when riding for Colin Bowe and he’s well able to ride, it’s interesting that Elliot is starting to use him (been jocked up on him for a few cancelled races already)..
Roaring Bull went off 10/1 for this last year, he’s 25/1 this year. Granted he’s been in and out so far this year. His 2nd behind the uber well handicapped The Jam Man wasn’t a bad run. I wouldn’t expect him to win here, so that’s why i’m not 100% convinced yet, but i might play him small.Hopefully it’s a Bull forecast!

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 27, 2021 at 15:02 #1519935After one losing ap bet, I was relieved to have waited with Koshari.
Coko Beach for me, and I think that 8-1 on offer is fair. This is a much better horse than we’ve seen so far.
January 27, 2021 at 17:05 #1519963An Irish race I was familiar with in my younger days, principally because there would be a winter freeze in Great Britain and we had to rely on the racing in Ireland to fill gaps. We seemed to go weeks without racing sometimes in the 60s and 70s, but time was perceived as passing slower when I was young.
Easy to oppose many of these in a race which doesn’t offer a huge amount of sound recent form relevant to distance and conditions.
Ratings:
Acapella Bourgeois 165
Smoking Gun(Res) 164
Ten Ten 162
Dunvegan 160
Spyglass Hill 155If he gets in then the strongest form line to my mind is first reserve Smoking Gun 12/1. Not a huge amount of miles on the clock and run over shorter distance last time was encouraging. Trip, goibg and course no problem and I just hope he gets a run.
Acapella Bourgeois 7/1 made a sound reappearance at Tramore. He was sixth in a better renewal of this last year and might just have enough in the locker to make class tell here.
Coko Beach 15/2 (8/1 in a place) doesn’t figure in my ratings as this is a first handicap over fences, but he’s a younger chaser who can make a mark if seeing out the trip.
January 27, 2021 at 18:35 #1519980Spyglass Hill at 7/1 is my other bet here, to go with Saturnas
January 27, 2021 at 20:04 #1520000Alpha Des Obeaux at 25-1 ew with 6 places, looks a great bet to me, with jockey taking a few pounds off.
I’ve kept Tout Est Petmis to my original win only bet, but if he went bigger than 20-1 then I might change my mind.
January 27, 2021 at 22:20 #1520023Roaring Bull 33/1 EW (6 places)
I think he ran a decent race in the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown, a bit too much to do there. Sixth here last year on a higher weight. I think 33 is too big.
January 27, 2021 at 22:50 #1520029I think Roaring Bull is a better horse than his price suggests and I will be very interested in Aforementioned and Smoking Gun if they get in.
BlueSky @pghenn.bsky.social
So don't run, just like the others always do
January 28, 2021 at 02:42 #1520052I was slow off the mark, I meant to stick on Acapella Bourgeois earier for
this, I’ll need to put stickies on the fridge my memory is getting so
bad. At 15/2 I still think he’s worth a punt, even though he’s got to
carry top weight and 4lbs more than here last year.Acapella Bourgeois 15/2 Bet365
January 28, 2021 at 06:29 #1520055Only the 7 runners for Gigginstown. And 2 reserves as well, just to be on the safe side.
January 28, 2021 at 08:43 #1520057Think I’ve bet most of these over the years! Hard for me to desert the bull especially with Hayes on top but I worry about his jumping in a big field unless he can make all.
Class Conti was 2nd in this under the same jockey last year off 2lb lower. He is my ew choice.
January 28, 2021 at 09:25 #1520060Brahma Bull ew 5 places, with money back insurance if DNF.
January 28, 2021 at 13:53 #1520082Run Wild Fred – well handicapped on hurdles form and might be getting his act together as a chaser.
Spyglass Hill could run a big race but prone to errors which are costly in these big handicaps
Smoking Gun – similar to be said for this one but appears to like better groundRun Wild Fred for me
January 28, 2021 at 14:59 #1520097Yeah MikeTT, i’ve seen the same said about Smoking Gun, and i think his form backs that up. He’s been on my radar for a while as a handicap chaser, but the ground put me off here. Surprised BB is so big personally.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 28, 2021 at 15:00 #1520098I took the chance on him as well DB, second in the Troytown as well was a fair run.
January 28, 2021 at 15:01 #1520099Apparently robbie power said it’s the heaviest ground hes ever ridden on
So whatever wins will need to be the dourest of dour stayers
