February 27, 2007 at 11:30 #62575I’ve done a spread sheet for working out the book like formath does it, if anyone wants a copy pm me your email address .. !
February 27, 2007 at 12:24 #62576Maybe we should pick a race per day (the highest graded Hcp Ch or something) and have each contributor put their ratings up.
Don’t know what it would achieve but might be something!
February 27, 2007 at 13:52 #62577Here’s my ratings & 80% tissue for the 3:10 at Catterick today:
Aviation …………….. 16 … 7.81
Miss Pross ………….. 12 … 10.42
Cumbrian Knight ……. 11 … 11.36
Nifty Roy …………… 10 … 12.50
Flight Command ……. 8 …. 15.63
Eborarry …………….. 7 …. 17.86
Stormy Beech ……… 6 … 20.83
Do L´Enfant D´Eau … 6 … 20.83
The Nomad …………. 5 …25.00
Marshall Hall ………… 5 …25.00
Shares ………………. 5 … 25.00
Flaming Heck ……….. 4 … 31.25
Mistral De La Cour …. 4 … 31.25
Dead Mans Dante ….. 1 … 125.00
Comparing the above prices to the RP tissue, the only horse worth considering is Nifty Roy who is 25/1 on the RP tissue (currently best price 16/1). However at 6 pts less than the top-rated Aviation, caution is advised.
If this thing wins, I’m handing in my notice in work and going pro, tipping line, the works!

February 27, 2007 at 14:05 #62578Hi davidbrady
that’s a good idea, although I am not geared up for the jumps at the moment. What about two races a day one NH and one flat?

February 27, 2007 at 15:22 #62579Hi carlisle
I’ve no problem rating a Flat race only – I’m really only number-crunching anyway. Do you want to start with AW or would you prefer to wait for the Turf season.
February 27, 2007 at 16:25 #62580I’d be up for AW ratings .. what a fantastic idea .. !!
It might be best just to use the most valuable race of the day and then we all rate every runner.
If we look at the rating as ‘orders of rank’ .. the top rated is one and the second top is 2 and so on .. then the horse with the lowest total of added ranks, from all of the ratings is our selection and we’ll all be rich very quickly.
February 27, 2007 at 17:07 #62581We could, if all agree, choose the free racecard & ratings race from Timeform. It’s normally one of the better races and is mixture of NH & Aw.
We could then compare our humble thread with the Gold Standard of ratings.
Registration is free and straightforward.

Thank’s David, I wondered why it didn’t work!

February 27, 2007 at 17:15 #62582That’s fine by me Pompete – you should change your link to timeform though – timform’s website isn’t working!
February 27, 2007 at 17:15 #62583I dont see why not .. I’m not posting it up though, I have a rush some days to do my own ratings and wouldnt want to say I’d do it and then not bother.
Shall I post a race up tonight ??
February 27, 2007 at 17:57 #62584All
I’ll have a go hope I get enough time to do it
go with what ever you want to do
have fun
February 27, 2007 at 18:03 #62585Dave – I don’t normally rate on the AW, but happy to give it go, so if you prefer we stick to AW, no problem.
An aside – has anyone use the ‘my cards’ feature on the Racing Post website, as this would be my preferred method for storing AW ratings, it seems straightforward, but are there any hidden horrors?
February 27, 2007 at 22:26 #62586This looks like a good race for rating up tomorrow ..

Just a word in explanation as my ratings look odd compared with others. Each runner was filtered through 8 factors that have proved positive to winner finding in the past. The filters were then scored by ‘judgement value’ to obtain a rating. Then I priced up and staked the probables.
