I never have been a big monarchy fan, but reading sad news today that the Queen seems to be in a bad way, all of her close family, even the likes of Prince Andrew, Harry and Meghan are on their way to see her at her residents in Balmoral, things must be looking seriously bad.
Long live the Queen, she’s been an absolute warrior her whole life.
September 8, 2022 at 14:47 #1613782Don’t want to speculate, but fearing the worst.

All her children and grandchildren are making their way to Balmoral – including Prince Harry so it must be serious.
September 8, 2022 at 15:11 #1613791Indeed, all the BBC news presenters have changed to black clothing as well, I don’t think she’s making it to the weekend :(
God save the Queen
September 8, 2022 at 15:12 #1613792Can’t remember his name but the Welsh BBC News presenter is pretty much letting us know to expect the worse just from the tone of his voice, he’s telling us without telling us.
September 8, 2022 at 15:19 #1613796I feared the worst as well when I saw the headlines. She has clearly not been in good health for a long time, given she missed most of the Jubilee celebrations and was absent from Ascot and Epsom.
September 8, 2022 at 15:19 #1613797I’m pretty much with you Ben, not a massive monarchist but very concerning all the same.
This is a lot of fuss for a heath scare, blanket news and family rushing from all over. Some of them talking like it’s already happened and then correcting themselves.
The BBC rehearse this and the Palace will certainly want to control the narrative. Does seem like we’re being let down gently but you never know, she’s a fighter.
September 8, 2022 at 15:21 #1613798I didn’t think she was the same after her husband’s passing. Part of me feels as though she’s broken-hearted.
God bless the Queen.
September 8, 2022 at 15:28 #1613801Will the monarchy survive the Queen, or are we looking at the finish of it?

God bless her indeed.September 8, 2022 at 17:35 #1613817Like Ben and Richard, I don’t claim to be a royalist, but I do
have a great deal of respect for the Queen, who has stoically
carried out her role while a great many of her family have
failed to live up to her standards. I don’t expect some
remarkable recovery, I just hope that she is comfortable.
God bless Ma’amSeptember 8, 2022 at 18:34 #1613825Just be announced that the Queen has died, long live the King. She died peacefully in her sleep.

September 8, 2022 at 18:44 #1613827I’m no softy, but I have a tear in my eye.
What a wonderful woman, figurehead and example to others she was.
May she rest in peace.
September 8, 2022 at 18:46 #1613828Britain owes the Queen a huge debt. No matter what people think of monarchy, she performed her role in an exemplary manner and was a huge asset to this country. May she rest in peace.
I am sorry to say I was not surprised when I heard the official announcement at 6.30pm. I hope I am not speaking out of turn but I am fairly sure the media knew a few hours ago. The Royal Family understandably and quite properly just wanted all her children to be at Balmoral for a few moments of quiet reflection before the official announcement was made.
September 8, 2022 at 18:51 #1613830Operation Unicorn should now take place, if The King authorises it.

But it’s no less sad either and even the staunchest republican would surely concede this was a lady who performed the role she never asked to be born into with a rare dignity for a lifetime.
While various politicians and members of her own family have made Britain an international laughing stock at times, she never did.
And she liked racing and actually had a genuine understanding of it.
We will never see her like again.
