I live a couple of miles from Epsom and its raining at present
June 4, 2021 at 09:32 #1543392rains already stopped ad was a light drizzle, id expect at the very worst it’ll be good-soft.
June 4, 2021 at 11:12 #1543427Yeah there’s some forecast rain still for today i see, should be nice racing ground for every horse.
I’m struggling with finding any massive angles on the Oaks this year. I’ve taken a chance on Ocean Road at 33/1. I think she’s potentially smart. Her maiden win form-wise wouldn’t set you alight, but she won it in taking manner. She was beaten by Noon Star but that was her first run and she made a big move 3f out and it probably took it out of her late on. Her reappearance in the trial was decent, for all the form doesn’t look tip-top.
Twice she has been noted on the ATR site with the flame icon. I’m not sectional expert, but according to them this suggests that she has finished particularly strong off a weaker than ideal pace. Sometimes multiple horses can have this, but only her on these occasions. So i’m hoping she does the same today but gets her head in front!
She did shape nicely at Lingfield and i’d be hopeful given her pedigree she could improve a lot.The other i’d be tempted to go with is Saffron Beach, pretty taking that they decided to take an English 1000gs here instead of the Irish equivalent. That suggests to me they are fairly confident she’ll stay the 1m4, she has looked to stay well enough over a mile, for all her pedigree isn’t rock bottom sure.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!June 4, 2021 at 11:43 #1543432The bit of rain will take the sting out of the ground, so feeling a bit more confident about Santa Barbara now in case any inexperience of the track on very fast ground would’ve been a hindrance. Hopefully Teona will chase her home but I don’t mind which one wins really.
June 4, 2021 at 14:12 #1543479Going now Good to Soft.
June 4, 2021 at 15:50 #1543521Sherbet Lemon each way
Only distance winner in the race.
Good Jockey on board.
Highest stall if winning for many years.
Capable of running into a place and holds a couple of these on lingfield running. likely to act on ground and course. Question mark is the quality. Ground and Jockey may help.
Saffron Beach ( 2nd to Mother Earth in the 1000 and in the frame all four runs) and Willow the other two to watch out forJune 4, 2021 at 16:30 #1543539Santa Barbara looks a fine specimen.
June 4, 2021 at 16:30 #1543540Ryan Moore is not much of a judge is he, haha. Christ.

Value Is EverythingJune 4, 2021 at 16:39 #1543547Ground’s looking pretty soft alright. Not that the winner seemed to mind it any.
June 4, 2021 at 16:40 #1543548Blimey she just took off. Wd winners.
June 4, 2021 at 16:40 #1543549They don’t GT, thats a myth. Widely publicised Moore selects them.
Santa Barbara looks a right character. She went down like Hen Knights old chaser Racing Demon, head down sniffing the grass, then races with her head right in the air. I could warm to her.
