CHeers mate, unbelievable performance
June 4, 2021 at 16:58 #1543558Just putting it out there but maybe Santa Barbara is not that good. She has won a maiden.
June 4, 2021 at 17:01 #1543560tbh Moore has to say that, TTC. Anything else would be seen as criticising those giving him the rides. Do you really expect him to do that? If “the lads” tell Moore “Santa Barbara has the best chance” has Moore really got a choice?
But when it comes to this race, a sound surface was forecast – when jockeys were declared – and it turned soft.
Snowfall’s best is (so far) on a soft surface.
Santa Barbara has only run twice, both times on a sound surface (best run on good-firm).Value Is EverythingJune 4, 2021 at 17:05 #1543563Not convinced Snowfall needs it soft. Different horse from 2 to 3.
June 4, 2021 at 17:11 #1543564She was undoubtedly impressive but you have to be a bit cautious about wide margin winners on soft ground.
June 4, 2021 at 17:15 #1543567He picks GT. AOB says so too. I’m sure he takes advice, but its definitely his final choice. He was jocked up on again on Rifleman until he said “thanks but no thanks”.

June 4, 2021 at 17:39 #1543573Snowfall ran close to Pyledriver’s time in the Coronation Cup. But different sides of the track in the straight. Does that mean by coming over she ran a longer distance?
June 4, 2021 at 17:55 #1543576“Just putting it out there but maybe Santa Barbara is not that good. She has won a maiden.”
You can see why they thought she was class, she’s a very strong traveller
In a piece of work shed make snowfall look very average id imagine
But she is clearly a dodgepot with a horrible head carriage and finds nothing for pressure
June 4, 2021 at 18:09 #1543581Obviously you have to take the winning distance with a pinch of salt but in hindsight she won the Musidora in a stroll and has she had better two year old form she would have been favourite imho. We didn’t want to believe the Musidora form me thinks but boy were we wrong. Just an amazing performance and hands and heels the last furlong. Whisper it she could be peeping fawn part deux.
June 4, 2021 at 18:14 #1543583I think Peeping Fawn is a good comparison tbf.

June 4, 2021 at 18:31 #1543587Wasn’t Peeping Fawn the dam of the Coolmore also ran today?
Today’s race was certainly a triumph for the Michael Bell trained Lockinge winner Red Evie. Dam of third placed Divinely and also of Best In The World, who’s the dam of the winner Snowfall. Snowfall could well – unlike her dam – really be the Best In The World and take more after her best known sibling, the extremely tough Found.Value Is EverythingJune 4, 2021 at 18:49 #1543593Just wanted to say incredible for a young trainer in George Boughey to get a filly to achieve black type in a classic so early in his training career, fully justifying the owners stumping up the supplementary fee for her.
I don’t know what to make of the race she (Snowfall) could be very good but I do think the ground probably played a big part and a lot of the main market rivals clearly underperformed and not many of them seemed to handle the track/ground/distance possibly but its hard to knock winning a classic like that I guess. She won’t be missed in the market but I wouldn’t be getting stuck into her for Arc’s etc just yet I’d like to see her back this up before forming a strong opinion either way.
June 4, 2021 at 18:51 #1543594Got to admire Red Evies loyalty to Galileo. With her record of birthing good ‘uns, she could have any stallion she wanted. She is clearly an old fashioned kind of gal.

June 4, 2021 at 18:57 #1543597Great performance, who knows how good she could be.
Watching Dettori, he takes no prisoners. Doyle (H) nudges out into him two and a half out and is promptly put in her place while he wastes no time in getting directly in front of Mystery Angel so she faces a big backside to run at. Best jockey riding in Europe IMO.June 4, 2021 at 20:00 #1543616Red Evie has been an incredible broodmare. Surely she will visit Wootton Bassett soon as he seems coolmores probable go to stallion when Galileo retires. Frankie made a very interesting observation after the race in that it was sloppy on top but firm underneath which to my mind means it was a superb performance and also it will dry out very quickly for the derby. Whatever you think of coolmore John magnier invariably gets it right. Coolmore will dominate for years not due to their stallions but due to their incredible roster of broodmares.
June 4, 2021 at 20:13 #1543622Am I correct in thinking that Divinely who finished 3rd is in effect the Aunt of Snowfall?
June 4, 2021 at 20:17 #1543623Yes TTM,
As above:
Today’s race was certainly a triumph for the Michael Bell trained Lockinge winner Red Evie. Dam of third placed Divinely and also of Best In The World, who’s the dam of the winner Snowfall.
