Perhaps best known for her appearances in the Carry On films, she had the briefest of Cameo roles in Goldfinger, currently on ITV1 for the umpteenth time.

I was sad to read on Wikipedia after googling her she died in Belsize Park where she lived in 2020.

It just shows how much the world has changed, doesn’t it?

I’ve got a dvd of The Rainbow Jacket here at home – Honor Blackman was in that and I think that’s her best screen appearance.

Drone, I think you’re referring to Pussy Galore. What a fitting name for her….. I mean for a female aviator….

My fav though, was Dr. Holly Goodhead followed by Xenia Onatopp and Mary Goodnight…..

James Bond was designed to appeal to repressed public school boys, as is obvious from the gadgets and terrible “risqué” names given above.

As you can tell, I’m not a fan.

I do find the early Bond movies a bit cringe seeing reruns nowadays, but I’m nostalgic and I grew up with them and therein lies their appeal.

Tend to agree with you there, I have never been a real fan of any of them, although I enjoyed reading the books.

The later films became all special effects, flash, bang, wallop, with very little plot and dodgy continuity.

Don’t recall having seen any of the Bond films since the Moore incarnation, nor have I any particular wish to

Do – or at least did – enjoy the Connery films: all that effortless ’60s class, style and suavity

Forget the pneumatic Bond Girls, like 007 himself my real heart throb was Miss Moneypenny

Margaret Nolan briefly appeared in “A Hard Day’s Night”. She is the glamorous lady playing roulette, sat next to Wilfrid Brambell.

I’m pretty sure she was in one of the St Trinian’s movies too.

Are you sure that wasn’t just you picturing her dressed as a schoolgirl in an idle moment, Chezza?

    That’s an OUTRAGEOUS allegation, Gladders!

And anyway, she played a young Art Mistress who moonlighted as a stripper in the Great St Trinian’s Train Robbery – perfectly respectable!

The typical bond girl is 20-25 and often blonde

Tippi Hedren was blonde and all of 33 in the birds

Goldfinger was named after a real person: Arno Goldfinger, the Hungarian Marxist architect, most famous for his Brutalist tower blocks (the Trellick Tower in Kensal Green being the best example).

Goldfinger angered Ian Fleming after he had a row of cottages in Hampstead demolished to make space for his own designed home. He decided to use the name for one of his villains.

Goldfinger threatened to sue, only for Fleming to reply he would rename the character Goldprick instead.

Goldfinger backed down, knowing he was beaten.
