Going back to OD, surely any inflammation is worrying, and it must be of concern that he was standing on only 3 legs, I’m surprised his price didn’t take a walk in the market for the Temple Stakes.

May 13, 2009 at 01:16 #227219Really fancy Overdose for this race, as does everyone In guess and the 4-1 on BF at the mo is value IMO.
Anyway, anyone think the 10-1 offered by Coral and SportingBet for the double is value. I mean, is that going to drift once more of the firms get involved and open their books for it? (Even though some Hungarian had 5K on it)
Without a prep race after the recent setback will he be so fancied come June?
Would have loved to have seen him at Haydock what a shame!
May 13, 2009 at 01:20 #227223If it came out firm at Royal Ascot I’d punt on a gamble on Amour Propre after there was concerns on Overdose going on firm, but still it will still be difficult to get anything to beat him.
May 13, 2009 at 02:47 #227247Yes the Prix de Gros-Chene is a good alternative. This was a most imformative race last year, with Marchand D’Or winning at a lesser distance, and together with the other continental, Equiano, putting both Sir Gerry and Captain Gerrard in their place.
There is also a supporting 3yo G1 race.

You shouldn"t tell others to do things you cant do yourself!
You cant decide what to back 5 days in advance of a race, then when you do, you back half the field, then when the race is run you preach to others about how you had changed your mind umpteen times but still managed to back the winner! The rules will have to stipulate YOU cant aftertime
like you usually do! Besides it seems to me you haven"t got much idea about the flat, so why challenge TAPK?Just for the record Overdose"s target was the Kings Stand!

Fleeting Spirit was still available at 10/1 moments ago with VC before they realised they still hadnt updated their market.
Overdose was my strong fancy for the whole Royal Ascot meeting so it’s a shame to see him drop out. I’ve lost a few quid on him but nothing too major.
I do like Fleeting Spirit especially when shes on her FTO for the season. Could be a bit of shrewd placing by Jeremy Noseda by not taking her to the Temple again like last season.
Bushranger will be very hard to turn down if he runs well this weekend. I may actually turn to him for my main bet for the Kings Stand. The Prix Morny and his Newmarket run LTO showed him to have a hell of a lot of speed and possibly enough to take on the main batch of this field.
Bushranger, despite having many runs last year, is still pretty unexposed over sprint distances IMO. He could still improve and least we forget that we havent seen him as a 3yo yet. Thats could go either way though….

I had a huge (for me) bet on Fleeting Spirit for this race last year at 5/1 on the strength of her brilliant seasonal reappearance at Haydock. Visually, it was tremendously impressive and the performance measured up both in time and form terms as well. I’m in no doubt that she never reproduced that running thereafter despite putting up some decent performances. If Noseda can get her to post at Ascot in the same shape she was at Haydock I’d expect her to win the King’s Stand easily.
May 21, 2009 at 01:37 #229112Please don’t remind me of that project gus!
May 21, 2009 at 02:04 #229117I’ve not gone back to it, DJ, but I wouldn’t imagine it’s a thread that bears re-reading.
May 25, 2009 at 23:45 #230131I am seriously considering having one of my seasonal stupid bets on Spin Cycle, I just cant believe a horse as good as him is 66-1 for this.
His record over 5f on gd-fm is 1-1-2-1. The 2 was over course and distance and IMO he hit the front too soon that day, however his seasonal reappearance was full of prerace negatives and he still won very easily in a race which been well and trully franked by the 2nd 3rd and 4th. He looked green as grass that day, he played up before the start, he drifted like a barge in the betting, he took a while to get going and yet he beat them all with an electric turn of foot, simply looking like a horse of much higher class on an off day. He also done it recieving no weight for age allowance whatsoever, which he will be getting at ascot.
This is a group class 5f sprinter who loves gd-fm and can generate a very good turn of foot on that surface, theres not a doubt in my mind that he is one of the top 5 contenders for this race and 66-1 is just plain ridiculous, I have to have a bigger than normal e/w here. If I dont and he wins I’ll be kicking myself forever.

Fair enough Bul, but he is 66/1 for winning twice at Mussleburgh and once
at Hamilton now if the race was run in Scotland, he might have a chance
unfortunately he cant win in England! - AuthorPosts
