Frankie has seen maybe a lot more than actually happened. No big deal, imo.

It is more common in NH races and when you prefer to sit in 2nd last/last place, no one is supposed to let you through.

Winner was a well deserved one.

Surely some big owners must be willing to give Balding a go

It was interesting to hear Gosden publicly criticise Dettori’s ride on Palace Pier but I suspect it was heat of the moment stuff.

Similarly Dettori’s anger at Mcmonagle was probably an outward reflection of Frankie’s annoyance at himself for his ride on Stradivarius.

Not his best day but I think retirement is a long way off.

I’m not so convinced , Frankie always said he wouldn’t go on to long , he’s 50 , nothing left to proof , why go on

I don’t think McMonagle did a lot wrong there, and such strong public criticism from Frankie seems unjustified to me. Frankie coming across somewhat petulant and entitled unfortunately.

“Gosden cupboard starting to look very bare indeed.”

It does, apart from Inspiral. She might be enough to keep Dettori going. And there is always the possibility he will get on an O’Brien second string which wins.

“Frankie coming across somewhat petulant and entitled unfortunately.”

Not for the first time either. His recent petulant conduct shows up how phoney his attention seeking behaviour when he wins really is. But he gets away with it because the racing media do not want to criticise him.

Very well said Cork All Star, I totally agree with you and I know the big headed git.

It was just a normal, tactical move as well. Why open the gap for someone who sits in 2nd last and give up a decent position?

I agree with Cork about his attention seeking behaviour. It was there 30 years ago, it still is there now.

If (e.g.) Ryan Moore had made that move (which he absolutely would have in that position) Dettori would not have criticised him publicly. Bullying a young jockey on national TV is a very poor look.

Agree. As were his comments about Hollie Doyle at Longchamp.

If Dettori genuinely believes the rubbish he talks, he should have a private word with them instead of spouting off to the media.

And a racing journalist ought to grow a backbone and tell Dettori that a big man takes responsibility for his own actions.

John Gosden’s after race comment about Frankie Dettori’s ride on Palace Pier was telling. A case of saying a little to say a lot.

I didn’t think that his ride was actually that bad. Having said that I have always thought that he was an overrated , egotistical , attention seeker.
If Gosden wasn’t speaking in the heat of the moment, then I think that Frankie’s days there may be numbered. If that is the case , then I think that his hand will be forced re retirement.

What did he say about Hollie Cork?

“Frankie Dettori offered an excuse for her below-par performance afterwards – well, he seemed to blame Hollie Doyle for setting too steady a pace”.

Self indulgent/entitled old fart. Time to hang up the saddle and sell ice cream fella.

When Dettori shoots from the hip and forgets his carefully polished public image, his heart absolutely stinks. Cannot abide the bloke and I see right through him. His ‘look-at-me’ ride on Palace Pier with his head swivelling more than the lass on ‘The Excorcist’ was ludicrous. I’m positive he did it remembering Ed Chamberlains pathetic swooning all over similar antics in The Lockinge.
