Frenchy, on this topic i think i’ll stop as i could go on with you forever, and it’s not the point of the thread :good:

Does this mean you are backing DOH or not?

Jack, I reckon Frenchy will go for Kameko now. ;-)

I’ve already backed DOH EW Jack, it was me that put him up in the first place!

Kameko going has just made the market even more!! Obviously well backed him at Newmarket, but he won’t win here. He hopefully will have Siskin’s odds go out a little bit.

Well, let’s say he could win, but this is not his track at all. He needs a straight mile and/or a very fast pace, which is what he was always likely to get at Newmarket. He won’t get that here.

They are almost wording it like it’s a prep for the Juddmonte as well. No doubt punters will have him go off short though, so it’s good for us!

Circus Maximum will ensure its a very fast pace I would imagine as he stays a stiff mile well. Also, if connections want to run to see which Guineas winner is the best I see it more than just a prep for another race.

CM doesn’t set a fast pace though, he sets the pace he wants. I can’t see it anywhere near as fast at Newmarket personally

Well setting the pace he wants and a slow one wont help his chances of winning. ;-)

He likes to track the pace anyway, just in behind ideally. He doesnt want it slow, but if its a strong pace it won’t come from him.

I still don’t think the track is stiff enough for Kameko anyway

FF 6/4 and 13/8 is too short of a price to back Siskin. If he was 5/2 yes. I have found this year very difficult with the delay of the season, normally by this time the form has settled down, but we still have horses only had one run or non run at all.

If most of the possibles go to post there should be more than enough pace. Circus Maximus, Marie’s Diamond and Terebellum to name but three( we don’t know Ballydoyle may also Chuck in a pacemaker) will be ridden prominent.
Let’s hope all the big guns turn up

2/1 is the price I’ll be happy with on Siskin as long as the ground is on the quick side of good. That’s a lovely bet for me if we can get that.

It’s tempting to leave it as long as possible though as he might still drift on the day.

Pace wise, terebellum isn’t likely to go it seems, I’d be a little surprised if Marie’s Diamond runs as well I think they’ll probably try and find something to win next with him especially having bombed on Saturday in a Grp2.

CM rarely sets the pace, he tracks it.

You’d imagine something would be there to make it a fair pace. But really not sure, in fact highly doubt there will be enough pace for Kameko.

Look at his last 2 races where he performed so well. Both were very fast paced races and his strength is to quicken off that. The stiff mile at Newmarket played right to his strengths and there are even some pundits in the media that would argue Wichita and Pinatubo were better horses and did too much too soon.

A medium/fair paced mile at Goodwood on a speed track and shortish mile is not going to play to Kamekos strength.

The French race would’ve been more suited but they said they couldn’t go there because it’s too close to his main target of the Juddmonte.

I love Kameko but I’d be really disappointed for the race if Siskin didn’t beat him on this track.

It wouldn’t be a problem for CM to make the running and if Ballydoyle run a pacemaker(other prominent runners don’t turn up) I am pretty sure CM will be positioned to get first run on the others to make it a test.

Agree, but my point is that still wouldn’t be quick enough for Kameko. They’d have to go off at break neck speed like they did in the Vertem, the finishing race % was 98 there. At Newmarket in the mid part of the race they went the quickest ever or something. Both were very very quick races.

Circus Maximus is so underrated as a miler he really is. I’m not sure what else he has to do to prove to people that he’s a miler. He’s not a 10f horse that puts on a really stiff pace and makes every mile a big test. He gradually goes up through the gears and stays strong all the way to the line. He’s won round bends in England and France, now a straight mile. He’s a miler. He also loves to get into a battle, but he won’t get that if he goes off super fast as he’ll run out of gas.

We only have to look at the Sussex last year, it was run at an even type pace, CM stayed prominent, at Ascot in the Queen Anne, it was a very moderate pace and he just stayed prominent dictating. He hasn’t gone off quick in any of his races over a mile yet, so there’s no reason he will this time really.

I agree though he is likely to be there to have first run and then Siskin, Kameko and Mohaather have to come and run him down.

All comes down to who we think has the best speed to run him down, much like last years race really, I can see the same scenario happening very easily.

By the way Nick Walton, I would like to take the opportuninty to appreciate and hail what you had done in your sports career: If I understand it right you really did some rounds of sparring with some high classed boxers of your time, which is much more I have ever achieved with my rowing :good:
Of course I hope you got out of this healthy so that you can still enjoy your forthcoming years :bye:
Please let me say I always like to read from you, so let’s hopefully stay in touch soon :good:

Thanks Hein but it don’t take a lot of ability to be punched around the ring for a few quid
Loved every minute of being hurt, recently diagnosed with onset early dementia which they put down to boxing( I don’t believe that to be true )and if I could go back in time would do the same again.
Thanks again and will stay in touch on key fan thread :rose:
