Ballyburn Supreme backers will be hoping tullyhill doesn’t win well today
He could be one that pushes ballyburn into the ballymore
He will need to be jumping much better though
February 18, 2024 at 15:18 #1681603I’d say he won well enough there

February 18, 2024 at 15:20 #1681604They might have a Supreme go one would think.
February 18, 2024 at 15:26 #1681609He’s beaten Jigoro by further than Mystical Power did, and he’ll probably be better left handed as well.
February 18, 2024 at 15:29 #1681610Tullyhill must go for the Supreme after that, which would push Ballyburn into the Baring Bingham.
February 18, 2024 at 15:32 #1681611“He’s beaten Jigoro by further than Mystical Power did,”
Wouldn’t read too much into that. MP was having his first run since the Summer.
February 18, 2024 at 15:34 #1681612Trainer says Tullyhill to Supreme likely next.
February 18, 2024 at 15:38 #1681613Gives Paul a good ride for the supreme
Him not having anything to ride in the Supreme seemed the main reason people were talking ballyburn up for that race
So ballyburn now a much more likely runner in the ballymore than he was
Which also means Slade steel is now much more likely to run in the Supreme as they weren’t keen to oppose ballyburn again
February 18, 2024 at 15:43 #1681614Whether he will boss the Supreme like he did today is another question, but yes it gives Townend a ride on a fancied one in the market if Ballyburn goes 2 and a half.
February 18, 2024 at 15:53 #1681615Yes I wouldn’t have a strong opinion in this race at all if ballyburn goes elsewhere
But nice to get the tullyhill early season bets out of the virtual bin
You’d imagine tullyhill would go forward and mystical power ridden midfield or held up
Gives mullins cover for however the race is run
February 18, 2024 at 15:56 #1681617I’m still hoping for some Nicky Henderson training magic ;o)
February 18, 2024 at 16:12 #1681620I’m on at 25/1 so I certainly wouldn’t mind that either
It would need to be a miracle though as jeriko is a stone and a half off being a supreme winner as it stands
February 18, 2024 at 17:51 #1681627I’ve yet to see today’s race but…Tullyhill has certainly put a cat amongst the Mullins novices and as FF rightly says, potentially Slade Steel too (and others).
Even though Ballyburn’s performance strongly suggests his best chance of winning at Cheltenham is imo the Supreme (he’d certainly be odds-on on the day if going there)… He’d also be a fairly short price favourite (13/8 ish) for the Baring Bingham. Whereas both Tullyhill and Mystical Power would probably start first and second favourite for the Supreme anyway without Ballyburn (unless Slade Steel is redirected). So although Ballyburn’s best chance is in the Supreme, it may now be Mullins best chance of doing the double may be for Ballyburn to run the Baring Bingham…

Although having said that, Tullyhill running in the Supreme would ensure a good pace for Ballyburn if both run on day one.
So it’s far from easy to know now where they’ll all go. LOL
Value Is EverythingFebruary 18, 2024 at 17:55 #1681630All today confirmed for me is Mystical Power was beating trees in the Moscow Flyer, which we all suspected at the time. Willie wins both the novice hurdles anyway whichever way he splits them imo. If he ran enough I’d be interested in odds on him having the first 3 home, particularly the supreme. Don’t particularly know which order, suspect nor does he if Ballyburn goes BB.
February 18, 2024 at 17:55 #1681631Slade Steel would get minimum place in the longer race. Could struggle if coming here imo

February 18, 2024 at 19:38 #1681637Was always the case, though
Mullins has one horse be knows can beat Slade Steel in the BB and that’s Ballyburn and now has another contender for the Supreme
Likeliest scenario is 3 in the Supreme, 2 in the Ballymore, 3+ in the Albert Bartlett
February 19, 2024 at 00:41 #1681678Have now watched Tullyhill…
Good performance although got a soft lead in front and first three were in the first three throughout. His jumping has been a problem previously and whether he’ll jump as well taken on for the lead remains to be seen. I’d also have a bit of a question mark on whether he’ll be as effective away from the very soft ground he got today. Has a markedly round action. Quite impressive nonetheless.
