He’d be odds on if he ran in a handicap off his mark of 132
Be interesting to see if it’s for me gets entered for the Moscow flyer tomorrow
If his name isn’t down he must’ve got injured
Was surprising he wasn’t even in the 5 days at xmas
January 8, 2024 at 15:27 #1676666Of course it’s likely we haven’t seen the best of JDR but he hasn’t achieved on the track what other Supreme winners had by a similar stage of the season ( and the form isn’t great either )
Backed him a few months ago after noticing he was shorter with Unibet than other bookies and based on the previews but he’s no January 5-1 shot for me – the big Newbury handicap first might be the plan

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!January 9, 2024 at 21:33 #1676775Jeriko couldn’t run in a decent handicap, has to have 4 runs over hurdles to run in a Class 1 or 2 as a novice, rules out the Betfair Hurdle or similar. He could run in a 0-130 if they really wanted but I don’t see what the point would be. They’ll either go to that G2 at Haydock (Rossington Main) which they sent Jonbon and a few others to or maybe the Sidney Banks but I think that’s over 2m 4f ish? He doesn’t have many other options I don’t think.
January 10, 2024 at 16:02 #1676833I really like secret squirrel who JDR whalloped last month. Squirrel finished with loads left in the tank and JDR trounced him.
Weak races maybe but SS is a very good yardstick imo.
I could see JDR going straight there now and I think he’s going to take some stopping. I’m happy enough with 4’s. I’d be laughing buckets of snot if I had some of the 12’s readily available recently.
January 10, 2024 at 20:24 #1676867I think he’ll end up in the Sidney Banks, likely Haydock will be testing ground and if its the same weekend as the Peter Marsh which I think it is then Kirkland Tellwright is already sending out the distress signals about the long-range weather forecasts so it may not even be on. Shishkin went to the Sidney Banks of course and also had 2 runs at Newbury in non-graded company prior. I suppose the question is with the Sidney Banks being over 2m 3.5f is there a chance he ends up in the Ballymore instead? All ifs and buts at this stage, he may go straight there as you say Tizaards Cider, I’d be very concerned about lack of experience with just the two runs in small fields in races run at a dawdle, will be quite the culture shock to go from that into the hustle and bustle of a Supreme normally run at an end to end gallop.
January 10, 2024 at 22:38 #1676882If he was my horse or I was training him Tinman he would definitely be having another run somewhere before Cheltenham.
But Nicky’s preferred method seems to be to send them there after just the 2 runs over hurdles. Constituiton hill, jonbon, altior all went straight to the supreme after 2 runs. Shishkin did indeed take in the Sidney banks though on route!
January 11, 2024 at 18:50 #1676941Who in there right mind is backing ballyburn for this, regardless of IFM being injured, he has absolutely no chance….
January 12, 2024 at 09:29 #1676987Mirazur West has been given an entry in a novice hurdle at Fairyhouse next Thursday. Should be a penalty kick, looking at the opposition.
January 12, 2024 at 11:07 #1676992” Constituiton hill, jonbon, altior all went straight to the supreme after 2 runs ”
CH had 2, Jonbon had 3, Altior had 4
I’m pretty sure CH would have had another but for a postponement
January 12, 2024 at 13:56 #1677013Ile atlantique @26s
January 12, 2024 at 16:54 #16770382 runs over hurdles mark!
January 13, 2024 at 11:32 #1677121Yep…
Altior won at Chepstow, Ascot, then the Grade 2 Supreme Trial at Cheltenham before winning at Kempton at ChristmasJanuary 14, 2024 at 13:22 #1677328Mystical Power Supreme/ Ballyburn Ballymore double seems to me a logical bet so did that and hope the JP horse can uphold the family honour this afternoon.
January 14, 2024 at 13:46 #1677330“Mystical Power Supreme/ Ballyburn Ballymore double seems to me a logical bet”
I prefer Jeriko atm. Mystical Power too clumsy a hurdler for me at this point, will probably like 2 and a half more (Mullins mentioned that before) they got Mirazur West to come next week too.
January 14, 2024 at 13:52 #1677331I think they might drop Ile Atlantique back to two and run Mighty Power in the Ballymore, particularly given the injuries sustained recently by a few of JPs likely festival candidates
I’ll have to watch that Moscow Flyer renewal again – it looked a mediocre but MP will come on a ton for that
January 14, 2024 at 13:52 #1677332I agree with you about Jeriko looking better atm and that MP’s hurdling wasn’t great. He wasn’t exactly travelling all over them either and could do with another run before the festival, but there isn’t really time for one as DRF likely too soon, and that he would need to be ridden more prominently..assuming he was held up today for educational purposes rathercthan an inability to keep up- if it’s the latter my bet is toast!
But anyway I’ll stick with the bet and it’ll keep me happy and stop me splattering money over no hopers in the two races.
