Not sure hes won that well enough to have DD diverted, i still think one of them will, but i wouldnt be surprised now if they both came here

IMO DD will beat him in this

I’ve been saying SG Ballymore for a while and to me he grounded it out today which still makes me think he ought to go for that.

If you take TSL out the race it doesnt look like a ballymore horse, TSL is no mug, i dont think hed get another 5f IMO, id be certain of that

Plus if his jumping was better it would have been a hell of alot easier, so not knocking the run, strong form, just not sure it was good enough to divert DD

Sir Gerhard is almost certain to get the Ballymore trip. That race was Willie’s plan for him at the start of the season. On the other hand DD is a free goer so he may not get it.

Yeah i wouldnt be so sure that hes, “almost certain” off that run, its supreme winning form, line into the jonbon form anyway with mustard, points towards a high level atleast so not knocking him. He deserves his place in this, clearly

No I’m knocking him he’s just won again. I just dont like him for this compared to the other race. And especially if he jumps like that.

    Reminiscent of Appreciate It that.

From the front and not perfect, buttttt, what did he do? Won the hard way in the toughest G1 this season for 2m novice hurdlers.

Time was like 4/5 seconds faster than Honey carrying 7lb more taking the hurdles with him lol.

I’ll take it, and i’m happy enough with the conclusion that a 6l victory over a good TSL (got a perfect passage and toe into the race) and a Colonel Mustard (12ls back, jonbon?)….is adequate enough to be running in a Supreme.

His hurdling does want to improve, but then….it’s his 2nd start over hurdles folks, to jump like that and beat the horses he has?

He won well in the end; there’s nothing wrong with his engine – however his hurdling needs to be far better, especially over 2 miles.

Willie said he was disappointed with SG’s jumping. Ballymore it is then ;o) lol

    Maybe Mike
He beat Colonel Mustard out of site.
Jonbon was only a couple of lengths ahead of the same horse at Ascot albeit the pace of the races were totally different. I think Sir Gerrard probably will go Ballymore but he certainly doesn’t lack pace. His jumping would be more of a concern if turning up in the Supreme

This can’t be a serious post Nathan?
Jonbon beat colonel mustard in a crawl which always means distance between runners at the finish should be smaller.
Plus Jonbon won in a canter and Sir G was asked for full effort and beat it 12 lenghts.
If we are assuming colonel mustard ran to the same level on both occasions I’d say Jonbon and Sir G have performed very similarly if you take into account what I’ve just said

Just watched the Jonbon ascot race again Nathan. If he was asked for full effort like Sir G he could have easily beat colonel by 10

Yes, I said the pace of the races were totally different.
I’m just not writing Sir G off and don’t think his run was as bad as some are making out

    Sir G was excellent

Had them strung out like the washing and beaten miles out

Jumping wasnt great and will need to improve

But that is the strongest piece of 2 mile novice form of the season

Sir Gerhard was impressive, no doubt about it.

Kilcruit for me is the forgotten horse. Loads of talk of either Sir G or Dysart Dynamo going up in trip but Willie has all but confirmed it’s the Supreme for Kilcruit. Is that not a tip in itself? He barely had a blow last time according to Willie and the time was pretty good. The tongue tie clearly worked and for me he was the better bumper horse. 16/1 is surely the value?

Sir Gerhard is a Jeremy out of a flat-bred Authorized mare. Upping him from 2m would be absolutely bonkers, and could only possibly be considered to suit a trainer keeping his horses apart.

Plenty of Jeremy horses have got 2 and a half miles plus tbf. And the dam got 2 and a half miles. I’m not seeing the Ballymore trip for him as a problem myself.
