Just like shiskin he has no graded hurdles form
February 26, 2020 at 13:44 #1483901At least Shishkin has beat an animal with some form + a half decent rating.
I really like Chantry House, but his last run was beating a 123 horse, yet people were shocked with a 140 mark, thought he should be closer to Shishkin…..Not sure some know how handicapping works…
I don’t think CH’s price is value, i think it’s a tad short, but not by much. I think he has the ability to be a 160 horse, but i’m not sure he’s currently a 155/156 horse which he’ll probably need to be come Tuesday the 10th….

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!February 26, 2020 at 14:09 #1483904I wouldn’t be too worried about Chantry House not having graded hurdles form FF. He very easily
quickened away from Stolen Silver over c/d in December. That one went on to beat Edwardstone
last month in the Grade 2 Supreme Novices Hurdle Trial at haydock. Chantry House had already beaten
Edwardstone decisively earlier last year, so he looks to be well ahead of both. His 3 wins have on
his form guide of his races, in order, “decisive winner”, “readily”, “pushed clear, easily”. I think
he has had plenty in hand at the end of his races and there is more to come. I was lucky enough to
grab the 20s (put up on this thread) a while back, and I still think the 10s that’s on offer is decent
value.February 26, 2020 at 14:21 #1483906Just saw your post Jack after I posted to FF, and I hear what you say. It’s true enough CH only
beat Manvers House who has a rating of 123, but you could have attached a cart and he’d have been
okay. I think on the form side it’s worth considering his wins over over Edwardstone and Stolen
Silver, who are rated now 142 and 143. He beat them comfortably and I think, or I hope, that he
can step up again.February 26, 2020 at 14:31 #1483910Yeah BigG, my point which was probably a little off-topic was having a go at the people giving off he was only given 140 haha.
I agree though he won easy, and has masses of potential. I don’t think though that come the race he’ll be quite ready enough to win it. I’ve 20s any race too, and i hope i’m wrong. Just think he might be a proper next year horse and a “nearly” horse this year, in that he’ll probably look the one to take out of it.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!February 26, 2020 at 14:39 #1483912Cheers Jack, for the sake of us both I hope you’re wrong too lol. You never know
for sure, and he may come up short, but he hasn’t given me that impression yet.
Let’s hope he gets us off to a flyer at the start of the festival
February 26, 2020 at 15:04 #1483916CH has solid form IMO. He may not have graded form put he has beaten horses with graded form. There is two pieces of form that indicate that CH is a better horse than Edwardstone who beat Fiddlerontheroof before Christmas.
I’m not sure if that makes him as good as the Irish horses but I think he has the beaten of all the English horses.
February 26, 2020 at 23:17 #1483959Whys that kev? Shishkins last run was over a an intermediate trip and he finished very, very strongly, from a pointing mare and the same sire as don cossack, del arca kruzlihnin, his best offspring have all been stayers and to the eye looks like he stays, extremely early in there careers to say one definitely is and one definitely isnt, but if one was bred for staying trips, its shishkin
Asterion has absolutely hacked up on good ground over 2 miles twice now, in a grade one in his last start, what about that sais he would be a stayer? Arguably put it to bed by speed 2f out both times against decent enough horses, from a breeding angle its early days but it does not definitely point to anything specific…
Im not sure how you can convincingly claim that its unfathomable
Am i missing something on the breeding side or their last starts kev that has a conclusive answer like your suggesting?
February 27, 2020 at 08:24 #1483982The ground for Asteriuon Forlonge’s Grade 1 win at Leopardstown was Soft, Ham. They watered heavily on the Saturday night of the DRF and teh ground was horrible and “gluey” by all accounts

He readily beat Edwardstone in a bumper, which is promising. His win over Stolen Silver if taken at face value isn’t a great one on the figures and i think it’s that run that has kept him to around 140.
Given a typical Barry educational ride that day he’s value for a fair bit i’m sure. Hopefully enough to bridge the gap, but as i say, i wouldn’t be surprised if the 155+ ratings come after a Supreme.
Ham it was definitely softer than good for his performance!

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!February 27, 2020 at 10:17 #1483989I have to defend my Abracadbras horse I’m afaid. Negative comments being made on the Champion Bumper run. Can I just say that the horse was described as ‘unfurnished’ in the comments in running. So just a shell of a horse then.
Interestingly the trainer said he would like nice ground at the festival and not too testing as that would blunt his speed.
February 27, 2020 at 10:21 #1483991Lol, Mike you’ve defended him in one sentence and posed a probable negative in the second?

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!February 27, 2020 at 12:32 #1483998Dunno if its probable, he seems adaptable ground wise to me looking at his form. Maybe the trainer is giving his perfect scenario in order to stop anything else winning.
February 27, 2020 at 14:02 #1484002I wouldn’t say so either, but it’s what you’ve posted that Elliot has said.
Just don’t think he’ll win myself, presume you’re on a nice price, so gl!Twitter: Jackh1092
Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!February 27, 2020 at 15:44 #1484012Good ground on his maiden, tacky on his grade 1, regardless the ground wasnt bottomless and he could handle both sides fine, his turn of foot put it to bed, it was not a slugfest it doesnt devalue the point i was making, nothing was indicative of “hes a stayer” his point win also points to being a 2 miler/ 2m4 other than willie originally thinking that he would need a trip which he has already disregarded, on a breeding angle and form basis at this current time, shishkin would be the stayer and asterion the 2 miler
Ill be a fairly confident layer of shiskin in this atm, day of he goes off over 5/1
February 27, 2020 at 16:18 #1484021He stayed on strongly, didn’t do them for speed IMO but we’ll agree to disagree. Shishkin looks speedier, turn of foot at Newbury was incredible. I’ll be stunned if Shishkin goes off >5/1.
They think this is the next Altior who they put off 4/1 against the unbeatable Min. He’s be 4/1 max IYAM.
February 27, 2020 at 20:17 #1484069Altior had course form and four hurdles wins under his saddle before lining up in this
Shishkins two victories were set up for a horse with a turn of foot but I think he’ll be outstayed up the hill in a strongly run Supreme.
Others have better form
