Guys, Melon is truly special and this thread is a waste of time. He’ll win by the time the others get to the 3rd flight. He’s a 350+ horse.

Broken soul,2nd place in melons maiden win turned over at 1/3 beaten 9 lengths

Nothing standing out in this race whatsoever, you could be right stilvi with the likes of beyond conceit

There is a stand out horse, he’s been nailed on for this race for 12 months. He’s a pure 2 miler, who has come up the hill to win at the festival already. His prep is not ideal but he is simply a superior, more developed, proven class animal than the pretenders coming and going on this thread. Step up Moon Racer.

I think hes in with a chance of course but the prep is not ideal, previous trends are seriously against him winning this, its a race i have had a little on here and there, ill probably pitch in on an outsider on the day for a place, its as poor a supreme as is a champion hurdle this year…

Should be an interesting watch that being said

Based on a double I placed for Moon Racer to win the Supreme along with Ballyandy to win the Betfair Hurdle I really hope that he turns up and wins the Supreme. I’ve just thrown £20 at him NRNB at 33s for the Champion as insurance which I think is a crazy price. Lets not forget that Pipe gave him a break of 5 months between Bumpers and that worked out fine, together with a 3 length beating of Yanworth in the same race. Champion is wide open so why not give Moon Racer a go at 8 years old?

I still can’t see the Pipe’s diverting Moon Racer to run later in the day, it doesn’t make sense

Makes all the sense in the world imo.

    1 He’s 8 and fragile – 6 runs in his career.
2 It’s likely to be the poorest CH (on paper, at least) for a long time
3 They said at the start of the season he’d get an entry, so they’ve always believed he wouldn’t disgrace himself

If he’s sound and fit (at this stage last year they were very hopeful of running him in The Supreme: he didn’t make it) they’ll count their blessings and run him because he might never see a racetrack again going by his past record.

I think Moon Racers earned a crack at the big time. Has it to do on the figures but figures arn’t everything. It would also enhance Melons chances of picking up the Supreme. Its a win win situation

My only point of view on chateau conti was he had almost identical form (previous to the deloitte) to melon, look how that turned out, although running 2f shorter on better ground may help or hinder i dont know, will be surprised if he turned up now…. he looked poor….. i was happy to throw some £s at the prices and to be honest id probably still throw some at the 150s he is just now

i have small amounts on melon at bigger prices, but after broken souls run today, id be as worried about backing him at 4/1 than i would be backing chateau conti at 150/1

At no point did i say he was a “worldy” and delving into form dosent always give you sensible outcomes, cant remember who i said it to on here may have been you…

You think you take an intelligent view on horse racing, but it probably isnt B-)

But you say that about every horse Joe. You said Altior would almost certainly be diverted to the champion hurdle for example. Truth is in 90 percent of cases they stick with their original targets.

Judge, it was the QM I said Altior would go for and I haven’t yet given up on that. The only other I can recall being so definite about was Thistlecrack for the King George when he was a 15/2 chance.

I sympathise with MR’s Supreme supporters but it will be a major surprise to me if he turns up here.

Glaring pulled out again. Not sure why this time as ground conditions look to be in his favour. This horse is starting to frustrate me.

Joe, your memory seems to be failing you. On the Arkle thread you posted the following:

Instead of laying Altior, I’ve just backed him at 20s for the Champion Hurdle

    followed by

Altior could get steadily better over fences but I simply do not get it with what they’re doing. Given the state of the market, Altior would be favourite for the CH and would be very hard to beat. In comparison with The Arkle – in every aspect – I simply do not get it. Prestige, history books, prize money (86k V 250k), it makes no sense whatever to me. The horse could win the next 2 or 3 Champion Hurdles, but where does he go after The Arkle? A Champion Chase in 2018, staying chasing with all its attendant risks.

The whole thing seems illogical in the extreme.

Nothing wrong with my memory Judge. There’s a big difference between arguing the logic of something and predicting with confidence that it will happen.

I stand by the logic argument and was happy to take the chance at 20s but nowhere did I say that I thought he was highly likely to go Champion Hurdle. In contrast, I’m saying exactly that about Moon Racer and will happily return for my helping of humble pie if I’m wrong :)

A lemon is a very disappointing investment in which your expected return is not even close to being achieved, and more than likely ends up costing you some or all of the capital committed. Lemon investments can be associated with poor money management, economic factors, financial fraud or just plain bad luck.

Are there any lemons in this race? anag MELON

No great shock, but Jenkins confirmed as not making it to The Festival.

    On Charli Parcs.

‘I’d like to run him in the Triumph I must admit. He’s very smart, a proper four-year-old. He’s got to go and do it on Saturday. If you go into the Supreme you get allowances… we’ll have to see’. Nicky Henderson.

Thoughts? I have DDS for the Triumph (14’s) and this fellow for the Supreme (12’s). I could do with them both turning up at those respective races!

    I should of cashed out.
