Delegator did exactly what he did in the Guineas….came there to win his race but just didn’t quite see it through. He was simply outstayed and what we should take from this is Sea the Stars must be some horse.

Extremely doubtful Sea the Stars and Master Craftsman will ever meet which is a pit. As far as the first and second today go I can’t see Delegator ever getting the better of Mastercraftsman again.

Despite Delegator looking like a much better horse today (I take my hat of to fim) when Mastercraftsman got his head in front again it looked as if in another 100 yds he would have pulled further away from him again. He was going Delgator was stopping.

If they meet with and cut in the ground it wont bother Mastercraftsman but you would expect it to be dead against Delegator.

I don’t wear he’s a better horse with cut in the ground but I accept Delegator is a better horse when there isn’t.

Fist question for you. Do you think Delegator would beat Mastercraftsman on fast ground at Goodwood a sharper track?

If Lester Piggot was still riding yes

Master Craftsman has now show 4 or 5 times now you will lose if you get into a fight with him.

For Delegator to beat him on any track he would have to be ridden to absolute perfection.

I’m sure I dont have to elaborate on that.

And then some. In fairness to Jimmy Fortune he did very little wrong yesterday. You have to admire the tenacity of the Ballydoyle horses most of whom will run through a brick wall when fully wound up. Perfect tactics and a great ride from Johnny Murtagh.

Very reminiscent of HTN v Raven’s Pass last year- lets hope these two renew rivalry a few more times ending at the Breeder’s Cup. Can’t help thinking Spencer would have won on Delegator though…

How is it remotely similar? Ravens Pass never got to the front like Delegator did yesterday.

Spencer being on it would have meant he would have been held up even longer….which was the problem with RP last year in that they were too negative on him!

MCM would be a disaster at Goodwood. Go back and look at Newmarket, his long reaching stride got lost in the dip and he would be completely thrown by the ups and downs of the Goodwood track.

I think there is every chance MCM will step up to 10 furlongs.I would imagine they might give the Derby horses a chance to step down (something like RIP) in the Eclipse maybe allowing MCM a break. Then depending on how RIP gets on they could send MCM to the Juddmonte and Irish Champion or alternatively let him stay at a mile for the time being in France on an easier surface.

Wouldn’t dream of knocking Jimmy Fortune as he would most likely be riding to instructions.

The probelm with Delegator is he has one short run and that’s it. He ran on better than I thought he would but really he lost the race the minute he hit the front.

This horse as you say needs ridden to perfection and then some. Last fifty to a hundred yards job if ever there was one
