Enjoyable that..

Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
June 17, 2025 at 16:26 #1733394Henri did his best but winner too good.
June 17, 2025 at 16:26 #1733395Ruling Court had lost before he entered the stalls.
The more I know the less I understand.
June 17, 2025 at 16:28 #1733399Follow Kingman with wins in the Sussex and Marois. Odds please.
June 17, 2025 at 16:29 #1733400Whatever happened in behind made no difference whatsoever. The best horse in the field by a country mile won.
June 17, 2025 at 16:29 #1733401Absolute beast.
June 17, 2025 at 16:29 #1733402What a horse.
Still haven’t gotten over Shoemark letting me down in the Guineas at 9/2. Fool
June 17, 2025 at 16:30 #1733403Regarding Shoemark, it wasn’t a great ride but the horse probably didn’t love the track either. And Ruling Court has barely finished 3rd here so its not like he’s run to his form. I wouldn’t be sure Keane would have won the English Guineas on him but he was very good today and in Ireland
June 17, 2025 at 16:32 #1733404“I wouldn’t be sure Keane would have won the English Guineas on him”.
Yes he would. It was a moderate ride by Shoemark and he got the best horse in the race beaten. That’s why he got sacked.
I don’t see how anyone can argue Field Of Gold didn’t like the track at Newmarket when only two weeks earlier he had won the Craven Stakes by three and a half lengths.
June 17, 2025 at 16:33 #1733405Ruling Court probably over the top in that he would have been trained for the Derby to be spot on for that day.
so do you bring him down to build him back up? probably not as too soon so have kept him ticking away for too long
perhaps..
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
June 17, 2025 at 16:35 #1733406Kept it pretty simple in the end and the best horse won by some way and shows that sadly it was the jockey that got him beat at Newmarket. The Sussex/Juddmonte looks the obvious next steps and he will likely make an even better 4 yr old given his size
Ruling Court was literally dripping with sweat before the start (not a good sign) and was off the bridle a long way out (I guess being trained for a Derby wasn’t the best prep) but he didn’t look happy on the ground (much like at York on his only other start on good to firm ground) and the first two were gapping him at the finish so I am not sure where they go with him now as he clearly isn’t the best 3 yr old miler and I am not sure going up in trip will help either.
Henri might have been a bit closer had he had a smoother run through but he will need to go wherever FOG doesn’t and BC Mile looks like a very good option for him given his win in the Junvenile last year on a tight course (which I very much doubt will suit FOG’s big long stride).
June 17, 2025 at 16:38 #1733407Henri probably ran to his best. Ruling Court is better than today suggests. Sweating badly like he did when beaten in the Acomb. I suspect might have also sweated up behind the scenes on Derby Day; which could’ve been the biggest reason for not running at Epsom. However, had he run to Newmarket form today he’d have never beaten Field Of Gold. Winner imo improved quite a bit. Nice to see one real top class performance today.
Well done winners.
Value Is EverythingJune 17, 2025 at 16:40 #1733408I still think there’s a different between being the best horse generally on a conventional track and being the best horse in the conditions of a given race, which is still relative to the opposition of course. Ruling Court today was miles below Ruling Court back in May. Depending on who he faces FOG wouldn’t be a good thing at Goodwood given the expressed concerns about America for him, tight course, undulations, probably quicker ground than today although Goodwood can get some freakishly wet spells too. But its all relative to the opposition, he didn’t have anything to beat in Ireland whereas I think Matisse has run close to his best today and he’s alright.
June 17, 2025 at 16:40 #1733409Wonder how much the Segal had on!
“FOG is a huge-striding colt on whom any jockey would have waited until they met the rising ground”
Scott Burton got it in one in the Racing Post!
June 17, 2025 at 16:47 #1733412Don’t think Goodwood would be any issue for FOG (a similar ride to today would work just as well at Goodwood) but a BC Mile on the other hand, I would avoid that race like the plague with him.
He has other options at a mile like the Marois, Moulin and QE2 and obviously if they go 10F you then have the Eclipse (not a preferred option for me as I think he should get a break now), Juddmonte and both Champion Stakes.
Fingers crossed that they keep him in training at 4.

I don’t see why not, Nathan.
It’s just that not many horses have been trained for the Derby and then the St James’s Palace. Therefore not many have won the SJP after running at Epsom. However, the last horse I can remember doing so is fellow 2000 Guineas winner Dawn Approach… After he actually ran at Epsom, pulling far too hard and finishing last. Didn’t stop him winning the SJP – for the same owners as Ruling Court. Albeit with a 17 day gap.Value Is EverythingJune 17, 2025 at 16:52 #1733416You’d think given the way the Queen Anne panned out today they might stay at a mile, brilliant for connections of Docklands but that result wouldn’t put the fear into you would it, especially with Cairo finishing in the frame. Lots of options for the horse anyway and as you say hopefully he stays in training at 4.
