Standout race but not one I will punt on. Odd the Racing Post have Field Of Gold as their front page headline horse and not the Guineas winner. Ruling Court the actual Guineas winner in my opinion is open to improvement and is being overlooked.

The more I know the less I understand.

I believe Field Of Gold can be backed at 6/4 with Bet365 for anyone who can get a bet on with them. I don’t know how much it is prepared to lay (probably 10p) and if he wins you will be restricted. ;-)

Was the French guineas run at a quick pace? Henri Mattisse showed good speed to get to the lead but only won on the bob against a horse dropping back to the Commonwealth. If it was a quick enough early pace then he was entitled to go past Jonquil and not doing so leaves a question mark. If it was a slow pace then he put up a very performance

    Reportedly a track record, Nathan.
They set the race up for Henri.
Ryan also has to get the challenge spot on. Could leave it too late. But also if too early the horse idles badly. So even if (imo a reasonably big “IF”) good enough ability-wise… could give it away on the post. If looking at the French Guineas he was trying to that day. Although has a good win-run ratio so far, he’s not what I’d want as main bet win only material. If I was a rival jockey, I’d try to challenge wide of Henri.

Thanks Ginger, yes I had it down as a fast pace. Jonquil put up a big performance in that case

Ground looks like it’s been watered enough for the favourite to perform

Potential for this one to get messy with half a field of pace makers (or fake pace makers potentially). Hopefully there aren’t any hard luck stories

Ground is faster than race times might suggest.
There’s a headwind that would slow them down.

    Ruling Court sweating fairly badly.
Like he did when beaten in the Acomb.

    Pure class.

Would anyone still like to defend Shoemark’s ride at Newmarket?

Impressive winner but as predicted it was a mess in behind and it was for Matisse, probably didn’t matter but did exaggerate the winning margin. Ruling Court barely went a yard, barely beat the pacemakers home.
