April 2, 2023 at 17:00 #1642251Murphy and Wilson in the Final 4-4 at half time with Murphy coming back from 4 nil down
I’ve done Murphy at slight odds on. Wilson certainly has the talent but if the game stays close he can get twitchyGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026

April 21, 2023 at 21:46 #1644853I haven’t seen much as I’ve been away but seems like it’s been a good tournament so far.
Have to say it would be nice to see a few different faces going deep into the tournament and it does seem like a possibility.
Thoughts on the Vafaei incident? It was pretty daft but at the end of the day it’s a legal stroke and the fact that it lost him the frame is his problem. The BBC team wouldn’t shut up about it, I really must put Eurosport on.
April 21, 2023 at 21:53 #1644858I don’t play that shot against blind Dave until 4 or 5 shots in roughly every 4 or 5 frames
my defense is blind Dave is unable to clear the table so its to my advantage

April 21, 2023 at 23:01 #1644874There’s something to be said for it when you’re just having a knock around at the snooker club, gives you a chance to pot a few. I doubt I could hit a century if I was allowed to pick the cue ball up after every shot and put it where I like.
If Blind Dave’s eyesight is worse than mine then he’s really in trouble. I can just about cope with a pool table (especially the American style ones with buckets for pockets) but the other other end of a snooker table in a dimly lit room is a challenge.
April 21, 2023 at 23:27 #1644880The club we play only have the one table so we have the snooker lights and also the room lights switched on
I should really call him “Blind in one eye Dave” If he was really blind he’d be a champion against other blind people. He’s good at long range pots but does miss a lot of simple shots.
I beat him 9/10 – 8/10 times and same with billiards. Neither of us are serious, just nice to get out and have a few frames. We non stop yap about the weekend sport. The amount of times I’ve turned up and said “guess whose been sacked now”?Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
April 22, 2023 at 09:10 #1644900Exactly the way it should be Nathan, I haven’t played in a while but when I did it was always just for a bit of fun with a pint or two.
April 23, 2023 at 13:32 #1645132Billiards on a full size table is very difficult. My grandfather was quite good at it. In fact, he rather looked down on snooker and considered it an inferior game, at least in terms of the skill level involved.
April 23, 2023 at 17:01 #1645149Clive Everton, who was a superb snooker commentator, was a fairly accomplished billiards player. I have never played but it certainly looks hard.
I have never heard anything but criticism of the BBC’s decision to let him go, especially given who they have kept. Highly recommend Eurosport if you have it, really like Neal Foulds and Alan McManus.
April 23, 2023 at 17:07 #1645151Yes, the Eurosport coverage is much better.
I don’t mind Hendry on the BBC. But Dennis Taylor and John “Where’s the Cue Ball Going” Virgo have outstayed their welcome a little bit.

We usually have 3 frames of snooker and a game of billiards
it is hard and a little frustrating at times but excellent in terms of trying out different spins and seeing how the cue ball reacts off the cushion. I have noticed an improvement in my snooker since we began playing billiards about a year ago.
The main problem is blind dave can never find the brown spot when replacing his ball
I’ll see if I can upload a video of him tryingGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
April 23, 2023 at 17:26 #1645154Yes, Hendry and Doherty are alright. Parrott is ok too.
Taylor repeats himself too much these days. Every match he’ll mention that we have ‘one of the top referees in the game’- err, yes it’s the biggest tournament with the widest audience, they’re hardly going to let anyone who can pull a pair of white gloves on have a go. Virgo definitely grates as well and even Davis seems to be on the wane a bit.
Rob Walker is a terrible commentator too, don’t mind his intros but he just repeats stats endlessly in commentary, doesn’t seem to have much technical knowledge at all.
The Eurosport team is brilliant though, plenty of knowledge and passion for the game without being over the top.
