    Dear, dear, Mark aka Gingertipster,
Please do not take my comments seriously. Your opinion on horseracing is probably far more valid than anything I know. I just like to play devil’s advocate sometimes or give an alternative/abstract view. The forum for me is just somewhere to interact with fellow racing enthusiasts. I leave the senior members to proffer the serious debates. I know your heart’s in the right place as far as the horses are concerned and in my book that’s all that matters. So, yes, I am sorry if I’ve offended or misrepresented you at some point but no harm was intended.
Of course, I respect your opinions. In fact whenever I decide to have a bet I always pause first and think to myself "What would Ginger do in this situation?"
    Cheers

    Thanks for the apology Ken.

From now on I will have to remember you don’t really mean anything you write. "Playing devils advocate….giving an alternative / abstract view".

I did think it strange how I supposedly "singled out Knowhere" in not wanting him to participate in the National. Yet if you had your way, Don’t Push It and others would not have been allowed to run. As JP would’ve been "warned off".

You said on another thread "both he (Henderson) and McManus deserve to be "warned off" for appearing to take advantage of a flawed syatem".

Now I know you were just "playing devils advocate" it all makes sense.

    For future,
I don’t mind having a debate with anyone. Just don’t like being misrepresented. Now I know how Lydia felt.

I can picture you now, Gingertipster. You’re surrounded by filing cabinets full of index trays and little white cards showing every forum members’ previous quotes.

Scenario in the Ginger household with Mark talking to himself:
"What’s that Ken’s just written? I must have a quote from him somewhere contradicting himself. Let me think. I know, it’s in filing cabinet six, file two, folder seven. Yes, spot on Ginger, I’ve found it – he wrote that six years ago. See I’ve got him now, he can’t argue with that. Must write that in my diary – ‘today I got one over on Ken’."

God loves a trier Ginger and nobody could accuse you of not trying, could they?

Ken; I think you misinterpreted what I meant by ‘someone on the racing forum putting the welfare of the horses first’. In no way did I mean to imply that we don’t all do that…if I worded it wrong I apologise profusely.

Moehat, apologies not necessary. You were right and I was sort of wrong. Yet again, I just misinterpreted (subconsciously on purpose, perhaps) someone’s post. I must not tell lies….I must not tell lies….I must not tell lies……. X 100 and wearing my Dunces hat.

Paul Nicholls ackowledged My Will made mistakes in the 2009 race and would have to jump better.I don`t think many of us would have nominated him as potential menace on the course but that was how it proved – interfering with two stable mates too.

I`d prefer to strengthen eligibility criteria on the grounds of restricting the race to those campaigned as staying chasers. We`d have no Made in Taipan, Pablo Du Charmil and the remove the irrelevant participation of Conna Castle.

Nice try to make it sound as though you are the wronged party Ken.

All I did was look back on the Lydia thread (like I asked you to do) to see if there was anything I said that you possibly misunderstood. Found nothing, but did see that quote on the first page. Was just a bit of fun.

Wish you’d quote me Ken, then you might portray what I actually say.

Anyway, you’ve apologised for misrepresenting my opinions on this and the Lydia thread. Can we shake hands and forget about this now? I’ll get rid of the file on you, as a gesture of good will.

I’d be in favour of that too. When many runners started out of the weights, I think there was a case to keep the numbers up with "non-stayers". Now the bottom weight is around 10-5; a rule could be introduced to ensure every runner has won a race at 3 miles or more.

Herewith a little postscript regarding your old chum, Ginge.

If you’d pointed the Gingermobile not Newburywards this Saturday just gone, but instead in the direction of the Vale of the White Horse Point-to-Point fixture at Siddington (near Cirencester), you would have been treated to the sight of Knowhere making his fourth ever appearance between the flags.

You would also have seen him lose his rider for the third time in those races, when seemingly about to collect.

I mention this to you in case a return to Rules action via the hunter chase route is mooted at any point, and the proliferation of "U"s risks reinforcing any beliefs you still hold one way or the other about the gelding. He’s not been taking every other fence by the roots, or anything close to that. Rather, he’s been partnered by 16-year-old rookie rider Rowley Bowen-Jones, at least one of whose unseats occurred following relatively little provocation (and whose riding style Mackenzie and Harris have already dubbed as "wobbly"). He’ll improve in due course, I’m sure, but it’s been a bit of a bumpy introduction to raceriding for him so far.

The engine is still there, at least, so I’d not put you off completely if he rocked up in, say, a 2m5f-3m contest at Cheltenham’s hunter chase meeting in May, albeit on the strict understanding he does so under an experienced rider in the sphere.

This has been a bespoke Knowhere update for Ginge. GC, News at Ten, a muddy field somewhere.

Q: Why should Ginger go to the meeting at Siddington?
    A: Because Vale is everything.

Brilliant piece GC, had me laughing so much my eyes were watering. Much appreciated.

Glad to see Knowhere is still alive and kicking. Wherever Knowhere is,

    Brighton, Eastbourne

Siddington or Cheltenham, whoever rides, this part of the

    Anti-Knowhere-League

(remember them?) won’t be backing him. Then again,

    value

    is everthing.

As long as Knowhere doesn’t turn up at Aintree for the Fox Hunters!
