I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the Scottish national, I have two
fancies myself, Neptune equester and minella four star. I do think merigo is well weighted on last years form but I think it may be a slightly stronger renewal this year.April 10, 2011 at 18:41 #349687not had a look at the runner yet, but any tips would be good, every year i back teh 2nd in this one

April 11, 2011 at 01:32 #349731No idea whether he’s going or not, but would like to see Ambobo in this. Always been a fan of the horse, to my expense, and still retains plenty of ability, as seen on his last run. Get the feeling that connections had primed for a run at Aintree, but in the end he was too far down the weights.
He deserves a big chase, as would have won the Irish equivalent out the park 2 years ago, but for unseating. Hopefully he’ll, at least, get the chance to go for some compensation in this. I’ve only had a small bet at 44’s, as there’s obviously the good chance he’ll go to Fairyhouse instead.
April 11, 2011 at 11:01 #349758Field will firm up tomorrow with the 5 day declarations but the one’s i like at the moment are:
Minella Four Star, Beshabar and the amazing Blazing Bailey.
Blazing Bailey looks extremely well weighted and if he stays could be just the type for this event.

April 11, 2011 at 17:43 #349817I was very annoyed with myself for not backing Merigo last year. It was such an impressive performance. With the same conditions, I think he could double up.
April 11, 2011 at 17:52 #349822Cant see Merigo being out of the first 4. Looking at the entries a lot of the horses ran at Aintree, i dont think this will be the strongest of fields on Saturday.
April 12, 2011 at 07:21 #349915If Neptune Collonges runs, he will be giving a lot of weight to the rest of the field, BUT! A lot of horses will be put out of the handicap. Therefore, if he runs, he should be a tidy e/w price, and I think he’ll make the places at least.
Bear in mind he’s never been pulled up!

So don't run, just like the others always do
April 12, 2011 at 08:49 #349927Merigo, how far? (Again)
April 12, 2011 at 12:44 #349964Can anyone tell me how far Merigo won from out of the Handicap last year please? He is just short of a stone wrong this season so it will be interesting to compare.
Thanks in advance
April 12, 2011 at 12:57 #349968PN running Neptune means that The Minnack will be running form within the handicap and there is rain due which would suit him. Fair Along never ceases to amaze me and it wouldn’t surprise me if he won..again one of the few horses running from within the handicap. A race for old/young horses that have top weight or are running from miles out of the handicap
. Agree about Ambobo, though. If it does rain, it would have suited Silver by Nature down to the ground, unfortunately.
April 12, 2011 at 15:30 #349992As expected, Ambobo not going, hopefully he’ll head to Fairyhouse.
Looking at the field now, the 3 of the 4 I’m looking at now have already been mentioned. Merigo, a very impressive winner last year, impossible to discount him now.
Neptune Collonges would, I feel, be able to produce a weight carrying performance similar to that of Grey Abbey.
Fair Along, I think this could be the big prize he’s been waiting for, I’ve got a hunch this race could really suit him big time. A very interesting contender.
Finally, Brooklyn Brownie. Won a few quid off him last summer, and as well as that run, he ran very encouragingly for a long way at Cheltenham earlier in the season. I’m willing to take the chance that he retains more ability than he’s given credit for.
I’m hoping Triggerman doesn’t go this route, cause that would muddy the waters even more, and I’ve already got money on him for "The Whitbread".
Hopefully it’ll not cut up too badly, and we can have a good race to put a smile on our face after a difficult weekend at Aintree.
April 12, 2011 at 18:35 #350021ive just backed fair along at 33/1

April 12, 2011 at 20:01 #350032Does anyone know if No Panic is an intended runner?
Was 100/1 with Hills this morning and took some ew.
Thought he ran ok in the Festival Chase behind Bensalem and he looked amazing in the paddock that day.
Third last year at Ayr (well beaten) but looks a live outsider.April 13, 2011 at 08:29 #350068I’m guessing none of the MERIGO fans know how far out of the handicap he ran from last season?
April 13, 2011 at 08:51 #350075Maybe that means he wasn’t out of the handicap then
April 13, 2011 at 09:15 #350081Can’t see how Chicago Grey doesn’t get placed, think he is an each way bet to nothing at 5/1. Would take Beshabar and Chicago Grey against the field.
