Imposing a no fly zone is the best way of ensuring the outbreak of WW3. With nuclear armed powers. An absolutely crazy idea.

GT: “Stop all oil and gas imports from Russia – even if it harms the West / Europe.”

This idea is now gaining momentum, where some predict that it could happen as early as this week. But, unfortunately, Germany is said to be opting out. Any loss of revenue due lower volumes will be partially offset by higher prices. In addition, China and India are rumored to take up the slack. So, at the end of the day, who will lose the most? My guess is that it will be the European consumer who will face higher heating gas prices and petrol and other energy related products.

What is really upsetting is that companies such as McDonald’s and Pepsi and other Western-based companies that have a large presence in Russia are still operating there. It’s time for us mere mortals to do our part and start boycotting them. Trust me, you will not miss a beat! For reasons that are beyond the scope of my note, I stopped going to McDonalds’s in July 1991 and I’m still here!….

It’s normal human behaviour to see what’s happening in Ukraine and feel vengeful towards Putin and protective of the civilian population.

But “No-Fly Zone” = WWIII and WWIII = countless civilian suffering around the world on an infinitely more terrifying scale.

Not only can NATO not get involved, it can’t give Ukraine a shred of hope it might get involved.

Daily Mail headlines about Ukraine winning this War worry me.

It’s wishful thinking, they can’t win, but a lot more of them could die.

At the end of this, a lot might be asking: “for what?”

I’m boycotting McDonalds too, not because they’ve got a branch in Moscow but because their meals taste like ****.

Just back from Aberdeen, Clive never let’s you down.

“Mind you there will be plenty of available skirt for the rest of us” and
“No It’s a JOKE Obviously. Couldn’t care less about others humour bypasses”

It’s maybe a joke from the 1950’s Clive, probably funny to some then,
but quite objectionable to any person who has joined the next century.

    And then this……

” Looking forward to your condemnation of Putin”
Lots of posts but not a hint of it I’ve noticed”

How many times do you want me to say he’s a despicable dangerous man
who is a threat to world peace. As for others, I’m still at a loss to
find anyone who has put a positive slant on Putin. Stating that they
are likely going to win this war isn’t pro Putin, it’s just the extremely
    likely outcome.

Next year’s contender for “who would start a arguement in an empty house”

I wouldn’t say you’re pro Putin at all, BigG.
Just more inclined than most TRFers to believe Putin’s propaganda and / or rhetoric.

I would not fall for Forage’s lies as you obviously have.

Listen to what the Chinese are now saying , there are quietly pushing Putin to talk ….it’s as if they would lose more by having Europe/US stop dealing with them ….also where do they get a decent percentage of grain from …..yep the Ukraine , the Chinese may yet be the people to get Putin to back down

What Farage says does not interest me, Purwell.
    Wasn’t aware of Farage’s views.
I would not be for or against something Farage said just because he said it – unlike some.

I didn’t say you did say I was Guilty of being pro Putin, and I do read
your posts, end of. I’m responding to you continually implying that some
are pro Putin. So I made it clear that my position was the opposite of pro
putin and asked who it was that has put up a pro Putin slant.

You can’t keep throwing around these slurs, indicating that Someone/some
people are pro Putin without saying who or what you are talking about.
    “end of”

To defeat someone like Putin you have to get inside their mindset and understand what’s driving them. That’s why it’s so important to listen to people that have dealt with him in the past or have an in depth knowledge of military matters. But that doesn’t mean that you support them or agree with what they’re doing. It’s not enough to just say he’s an evil man and needs to be stopped.

If you don’t subscribe to The Daily Mail-esque binary “good and evil, right and wrong” analysis of everything you’re a sympathiser.

Al Qaeda were terrorists, terrorism is wrong, but it doesn’t alter the fact they had legitimate issues.

    Ditto Islamic State.

Ditto every “Enemy Of The West” there’s ever been.

I don’t like Putin, I’d gladly wake up in the morning to hear he’s been assassinated.

But, even if he was, to think NATO hasn’t put a foot wrong in it’s actions in recent years would be to learn nothing.

We need to live in a world where what’s happening now ceases to happen.

That doesn’t mean subjugating Russia (and China) to Western democratic capitalist ideals.

It doesn’t mean them subjugating the West to their authoritarian values either.

It means mutually tolerating cultural differences in the greater interests of the global economy.
