Yep, And ESPN is a much bigger channel compared to RUK and that is in no way disrespecting RUK.
Blimey i bet its cheaper to get the Porn channels.
August 12, 2009 at 17:02 #243517Confirmed today that RUK is £20 per month with Virgin
Two minds now..,.
I can afford it and do enjoy the coverage. I also follow racing a lot more closely than most, but if im wavering….
August 12, 2009 at 17:11 #243519I’ll probably settle for selective viewing on BetFair.
August 12, 2009 at 17:59 #243525£20 is nearly half of the £45 per month I pay for all the rest of my Sky Channels
£20 for 1 channel is STEEP
Rip Off
August 12, 2009 at 19:03 #243534Just drove past a pub in the next town that has a big sign outside saying that they show RUK and ATR; I’ve never seen this before outside a pub [seen live sport etc but not specifically RUK]. I’ve been looking for a pub for years that shows racing.
August 12, 2009 at 19:59 #243543I am guessing there is a bookies next door to said pub. That’ll be why they are advertising it.
As someone who works Monday to Friday 9 to 5 there is just no incentive to pay for racing uk when I can get free replays via the racing uk website in the evening. If this was to change then I’d have some thinking to do!
August 13, 2009 at 11:00 #243636Latest update from VM is that RUK is £20 per month regardless of the package you have, even the VIP bundle which comes with other premium sports and movie channels, unlimited BB and phone calls does not include RUK.
I’ve said before that a cup of tea a day for RUK is fair value but I’ve aso been bothered by the change in the RP website and suddenly having to pay monthly for both when it’s been free up till now does grate a bit.
Talking about this in the pub to someone, I think to begin with I’ll go for the RP ultimate package which opens up the entire RP website for me again and also gives me free RUK streaming and replays – for less than RUK want for their service on the TV on it’s own.
I’ll see how it goes and if in a month or threes time it seems worthwhile, I’ll just pay the yearly fee for it – wonder what RUK are getting from the RP for the live streaming and replays?
August 13, 2009 at 18:47 #243706Okay, I’ve subscribed to the RP ultimate package which is cheaper than subscribing to RUK and I’ve now got access to the entire RP website 24/7 and RUK live streaming to my PC – and comparing it to RUK live on my cable TV, there’s no time lag at all and unlimited RUK replays.
This is a no brainer I think, RP and RUK for less than RUK

We shall see

As I read it, the latest RUK letter to ex-Setanta customers indicates in the small print, that the online replays will be FREE to RUK subscribers if you phone them (there’s no online registration) to ask for the service.
August 13, 2009 at 20:03 #243716i cannot believe people are saying £20 is steep and are comparing it to setanta. may i remind them that setanta was not a viable business thats why it’s no longer with us. if you cannot afford £4-65 a week you really shouldn’t be gambling anyway.

Steanta’s viability had little to with racing involvement, in the same way that a number of poster’s dissatisfaction with the £20 per month charges has little to do with their own finances.
Any sane comparison of what you get for that £20 with other operators should show RUK’s charge to be excessive, particularly for a single channel covering only one half of the sport.August 13, 2009 at 22:53 #243747Steanta’s viability had little to with racing involvement, in the same way that a number of poster’s dissatisfaction with the £20 per month charges has little to do with their own finances.

Although I can understand why it is so high, I think they will lose plenty of people back at the £20 a month. I can afford, but it’s even worse value when you work five days a week, so let me tell you where I am – I’m out.
They will just have to hope there are enough diehards to make it viable.

Thanks for that insight, blackfingernail.
Perhaps you would be kind enough to put a price on the RUK package that would allow both subscription,
and
gambling, from the same pocket?
Everything has a value to the individual, and the individual will determine its worth. It doesn’t need some moron to decide what that value is.
If you are
not
the kind of moron who would prop-up such an argument, I can readily assure you that my tips will comfortably cover your annual RUK subs, if only you would send me a cheque for ten-score-and-two sterling post-haste. Feel free to PM me.
August 14, 2009 at 00:06 #243775Gents, may I respectfully ask:
Have any of you actually signed up to RUK since their "go-it-alone" announcement last Monday? My experience in trying to do so has been an exercise in utter frustration.
For the past three days I have telephoned 0818 776700 at least a dozen times, each time being put "on hold" ……………….."We are currently experiencing a high volume of calls; please hold"
, etc etc. Today I was on hold for 20 minutes before finally hanging up. ( The 0818 number is charged at national rate, with RUK getting a cut which makes it all a bit unpalatable.)
Neither can I subscribe via the RUK website.
It does look as if I will be without RUK picture from Aug 16 (Sunday) onwards. Are any of you having a similar experience?
Thanks in advance for your reply.
August 14, 2009 at 00:28 #243781I’ve not tried hoof as already mentioned, for less than the 20/mth RUK want, you can get RUK live streams + unlimited replays and the ultimate members pack on the RP website – can’t think why I’d want to pay more for something already got for less.
I have VM cable and I’m sure it’d be easy to sign away another score a month for something RP are giving me but I’ll not bother just yet, as the RP sign-up was very simple.
Much as I was annoyed with the RP stance about the same time as the RUK situation developed, it’s an easy choice for me and today as the first day testing it finds no problems with it.
£19.95 or less for RP/RUK or £39.95 for RP/RUK

You decide
August 14, 2009 at 00:40 #243786I understand what you’re saying, SB, — I know where your coming from — and what you say does make sound fiscal sense.
But, I really need RUK delivery via television rather than laptop streaming. I want to keep my monitor clear for betting while watching the racing on TV.But this trying to subscribe directly to RUK since cancelling with Setanta is doing meh poor ol’ head in. (Never minding what my monthly telephone bill will show as a result of all these "on-holds").
Which is why I am very interested to hear if anyone else is having this great difficulty insigning up.
August 15, 2009 at 01:16 #243962Signed up via Sky but I have no phone line plugged in so hope it works!
