Strangely enough, I am still receiving full RUK programming on Channel432 even though I have not yet succeeded in subscribing.
(All six York races and now this evening’s Nottingham racing coming thru’ loud and clear)I haven’t resubscribed as yet for Sky 432 and they cut me off on Monday morning, as promised.
Did you have a discounted annual subscription that hadn’t expired when Setanta went belly-up? RUK are allowing holders of such free access until their subs are up.
August 19, 2009 at 03:26 #244675cheers lads. thats what i like to see, tighter than a ducks bum us lot. thanks.best of luck all.
August 19, 2009 at 12:50 #244713No Drone, mine was a monthly debited subscription.
But I’ve just checked my records, and I see that my payment would be extracted on the 26th of each month.
Perhaps RUK are also honouring monthly scrips made to Setanta up to the monthly renewal date?August 19, 2009 at 17:44 #244763Back to C4… jesus
Thommo still thinks his audience is are sitting on comodes with a nurse shouting at them "WHOS THE PRIME MINISTER?!"
Down drones on worse than ever…..
Think the £20 will have to be found at this rate
August 19, 2009 at 17:49 #244767Whilst It’s important to have access to live & repeated racing, I cannot justify another £20 a month add on, to go with new charges from related companies & therefore will just make do with live streaming.

Anyway enjoy it while you can
Just checked RUK again to find they’re showing the C4 races as freeview (until 4pm) so rather wished I’d taped their show rather than C4

Like Clivex, my reacquaintance with Tommo et al has not been a joy-filled experience but as the Leger meeting is on ATR, I’ll bite the bullet and resist subscribing to RUK until NH gets going again in October
August 20, 2009 at 15:50 #244943Right-o then, which one of you grassed me up?
RUK yesterday evening pulled the plug on my Channel432 freebie. So it’s back to the teeth-grinding frustration of hanging on the telephone line in an effort to re-register.

Drone, are you aware of the mechanism whereby VCBet will fund the amount of your monthly RUK scrip?
August 20, 2009 at 16:43 #244950Thanks HH, yes I’m aware of VC’s offer but quite frankly – and daresay rather pompously – prefer to simply donate £20 pm to RUK than get involved with ’10 bets pm’ offers from bookmakers.
Btw I don’t think I’ve been paying enough attention to RUK since their supposed switch-off and now think I’m actually receiving what you are. York is on now and Kempton was on last night. All that seems to be denied me is Racing Replay.
edit 1605 hrs:
…and the last two races at York
no complaintsAugust 20, 2009 at 22:48 #245014Noticed that the Racing Replay (yesterday’s York) was on this morning unencrypted (approx 6.45am).
However, blank screen at 4pm today. Annoyingly, my Sky+ failed to record CH4 so only saw the Yorkshire Oaks. (but happily recorded Neighbours on Five for the better half!)…

Still not resubcribed, but feel myself wavering…
August 23, 2009 at 01:39 #245326I resubscribed via Virgin Media……….and e-mailed RUK to ask them how to enable the online viewer……..
Got this reply today…….
"Thank you for your email and please accept my apologies for the delay in response.
I can confirm access to the Online player is not currently available to Virgin Media customers, should you require any further information please contact Virgin Media directly on 0845 454 1111"
Poor show……….they never mentionned that when asking for the subscription………
August 23, 2009 at 22:30 #245428I won’t be subscribing to it. I simply can’t afford to. I don’t think they can justify charging the £20 – however i get the ‘like it or lump it’ thing so yes i’m lumping it. However what you’ll find is the new racegoer who’ll have occaisionall tuned in when it was free will end up drifting away from the sport, even middle of the road punters won’t be betting as much if can’t watch it, get the form etc. Think ultimately they are shooting themselves in the foot.
August 26, 2009 at 13:23 #245857I’d paid a year’s subscription in April, and discovered on Saturday that it was no longer valid, despite being led to believe that it would be honoured for the year………………
I am seething and angry. I don’t bet much at all, I just watch racing because I love it and used to be involved in it. So there’s no way I can justify paying £24.99 a month. What a rip off for one channel.
I have tried to phone the number, and it won’t connect at all, probably because I’m in France?
August 26, 2009 at 20:41 #245938£20 they’re having a laugh. I won’t be subscribing at that price.
August 27, 2009 at 00:33 #245987I think Kauto has knocked the nail on the head there…
ive havent resubsribed and simply found that trawling through c4 later in the day a pain
As a consequence, ive switched off racing a bit last two weeks (ashes to blame too)
Must be the same for many of those punters who were wavering with their involvement in the sport

I’m in France?Absolutely disgraceful !
This is on the wrong side of sharp-practice at the very least.
Would you consider contacting some Consumers Rights Agency with the details.
I would hate to see those responsible getting away with this. Why should you be out-of-pocket through no fault of your own!August 27, 2009 at 15:52 #246066I resubscribed via Virgin Media……….and e-mailed RUK to ask them how to enable the online viewer……..

I find this frankly incredible, and it immediately begs two questions:
How does RUK justify the £9.99 element of the overall £20 charge when you cannot receive the Online Player?
and,
Is this not prosecutable under the Trades Of Goods Act or some similar legislation ………. "False Description" etc etc.?Do not suffer this silently! I do hope you make a complaint to the relevant Government authority that has responsibility for such matters.
